** TURKEY [and non]. 5960.003, Feb 13 at 2318 VOT English S9+40 into UTwente, CCCCCCI underaudible especially at pauses. `That`s Why` repeat about learning more than one foreign language, voiced by the badax. 2325 `Weekly Commentary` penned by a Fulbright Scholar -- Hussein? -- read by the badax, maybe half the words understood, about Tucker Carlson`s interview of Putin, Ukraine situation. 2337 `Turkey`s Geomarked [sic] Products`, some hot dessert with cheese ingredient. 2340 musix. 2353 s/off for 1330 broadcast only. 2353.6 IS starts. 2356 restart IS with German IDs. 2357.5* chopoff uncovering XJRTV, std denunciations (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2229 monitoring: confirmed UT Tuesday February 13 at 0330 on WRMI 7780, fair S9 into Durango2 SDR. Also confirmed Tuesday February 13 at 1410 the 1400 on WRMI 9955, good direct. Next: 0030 UT Wednesday WRMI 9395 to NNW 1200 UT Wednesday Unique R, NSW 5035-USB or 3210-USB 1230 UT Wednesday Unique R, NSW 5035-USB or 3210-USB [previous #2228][SW suspended but still streamed?] 1500 UT Wednesday WRMI 9955 [unsked but reconfirmed every 2024 week] 2030 UT Wednesday SW Radio, Germany 3975 2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW, 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S 0230 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW 1730 UT Thursday SW Radio, Germany 3975 As noncommercial services, financial support appreciated. One may also contribute via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to: woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** VATICAN. 6035, Feb 13 at 1920, Italradio special for World Radio Day, VG into UTwente, French segment about Marconi. 1932-1948 switch to English, something about Marconi in 1903y; with IDs in Italian and QSL offers (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 0008 UT February 14 _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/

Tuesday, February 13 2024
** FRANCE. 6190-6195-6200, Feb 12 at 0749, S9+35 DRM noise, so TDF still active at 0730-0800 before QSY to 6000-6005-6010 at 0800 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** SPAIN. 9690, Feb 12 at 2307, token English from SNR, good S9+40 direct, enough to overcome HLNL unlike 5960 Turkey. Feature is interview about the ``migrant crisis``, with 7K already showing up into the Canaries this year, causing the insular government to ``collapse``, calling for moving them on ASAP to roomier Peninsular Spain (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 5960.005, Sun Feb 11 at 2336, VOT not off the air during `Letterbox`, mail after mail from India, then Italy, Belarus`, Spain. Has to prompt to include postal address for QSL as no eQSLs. Until 2344.4, so widening further the possible showspan. He loves us, back next week. Then song, not theme. Was no signal yet just before 2300, but VG now, S9+30/35 into UTwente, good mod, no squeal. 2351 multi-lingual ID filler reel. 2353 s/off only for the 1330 on 13635. That`s the first English broadcast each day and they replay it over and over. Someone should inform the announcer/operator about all the repeats. 2354 IS, 2356 restart IS with German IDs. 2400 timesignal and s/on as one of the two earlier real German outsendings. Many familiar segment themes, same as in English service. Circa 2450 finally chops off, uncovering XJRTV East Turkistan, std denunciations (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 5960.005, Feb 12 at 2310, JBA direct vs line noise level ranging from S9+10 to +20 all over the LW & SW bands. VOT English VG into UTwente S9+30/35 when measured at 2335, ``always-by-your-side`` promo and ``That`s Why` on the ``art of learning a foreign language`` voiced by, who else, the badax. Says this feature is a translation from original Turkish; which is likely the case for most segments, unless originally in English such as a commentary or analysis by a Westerner. Over already at 2339, ``with-you-every-hour`` promo, music, 2344 ``w-y-e-h`` again, more music. 2349 one of those yet again, music. 2352 *again*, what crutches! and s/off of 1330 only; chopoff at 2353* before any IS, uncovering the undercurrent of the understation, XJRTV in Chinese from the other land of genocide, imperialist ChiCom-controled East Turkistan. Note: I am not avoiding the issue of Israeli genocide, but no SW broadcasts from there. As usual, it`s necessary to retune UTwente, or step back-and-forth 5 kHz to get it to display the new exact frequency which in this case is always much closer to .000 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 1590, Feb 13 at 0140 UT, rather urgent talk in Russian, not Ukrainian. The only likely possibility is WCGO Evanston IL, which per Wikipedia does have Russian on weekday afternoons. Via tunein.com, reaching own website, which includes a ``1950 AM`` blunder, Radio NVC | Радио Народная Волна Чикаго | Northbrook, IL ... https://www.radionvc.com shows on into the evening tomorrow but won`t display now Feb 12 CST as my computer is on UT: ``НОВОСТИ - СВОБОДА Tue, Feb 13 - Wed, Feb 14, 2024 7:00pm-12:00pm``. At 0146 could be a commercial in Russian; however by 0230 the same semi-dominant signal is carrying songs in Spanish. I find the webstream, http://ice23.securenetsystems.net/WCGO and indeed it`s Spanish now as ``Ambiente Clásico`` as I already logged direct some months ago. It sure would be nice to see an accurate program/language full WCGO schedule (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2229 monitoring: confirmed Sunday February 11 at 2100.5 on IRRS via AM Italia, 1323 kHz, S8/S9 into UTwente, no CCI. Following 2057 vamp music, 2100 ID. Also confirmed Sunday February 11 at 2256 the 2230 on SW Radio, Germany, 3975.002, S8/S9 into UTwente. Also confirmed UT Monday February 12 at 0043 the 0030 on WRMI 7780, S7/S9 into Maryland SDR. Also confirmed UT Monday February 12 from 0401.3 on Area 51 via WBCQ 6159.93, S9/+5 into NH SDR, fortunately almost over by 0430 when severe ACI hits from Russian on 6165: that`s NHK via Nauen, Germany at 0430-0450 only. HFCC shows that`s 125 kW at 85 degrees, so why such a bigsig way over here? Missed checking Mon Feb 12 at 0930 on SW Radio, Germany day frequency 6160, since I`m always ZZZ. Anyone hear it? Also confirmed Monday February 12 from 2031.3 on SW Radio, Germany, 3975.002, S9+10/15 into UTwente, as preceding ADDX show in German runs slightly over, mentioning Bryan Clark [NZ]. Next: 0330 UT Tuesday WRMI 7780 to SW 1400 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [also web-, phonecast; jammed?] 0030 UT Wednesday WRMI 9395 to NNW 1200 UT Wednesday Unique R, NSW 5035-USB or 3210-USB 1230 UT Wednesday Unique R, NSW 5035-USB or 3210-USB [previous #2228][SW suspended but still streamed?] 1500 UT Wednesday WRMI 9955 [unsked but reconfirmed every 2024 week] 2030 UT Wednesday SW Radio, Germany 3975 2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW, 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S 0230 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW 1730 UT Thursday SW Radio, Germany 3975 As noncommercial services, financial support appreciated. Thanks this week to our friend Frank in Stockton, lower Alabama for some cash and says ``Dear Mr Hauser, Thank you for your program. One may also contribute via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to: woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** VANUATU. 7260, Feb 12 at 0751, song at S8, R. Vanuatu reactivated after missing a couple nights as Manuel Méndez also notes; and Ron Howard found it on no known frequency Feb 11 at 0705 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 4750, Feb 12 at 0743, as I happen to be starting a 60mb bandscan, rapid Morse code CODAR alfanumeric ID fires; unprepared, did not copy it, but probably same one previously traced in this area; and should be audible over entire swirsh-range, not just on 4750; anyway, reconfirms time as :43 past the hours, and believed to be icosaminutely also at :03 and :23 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 5051.0, Feb 12 at 0745 carrier, seems to be constant, also as het to 5050 earlier when WRMI Legends is on. Others hearing it? A utility protest objector? ** ANTARCTICA. 15475.98 RCUSB, Feb 11 at 0100*, LRA36 off exactly as scheduled, concluded from last report (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CUBA. 6000, Sun Feb 11 at 0757, this RHC is unusually still on; S9/+20 vs line noise level of S9+30 but undermodulated and have trouble recognizing language but probably English. 0800 into weekly Esperanto as I do recognize theme and a few words. Uncopied this time, but they always announce 6100 as the 08 hours frequency, where it was for longtime but 6100 totally off the air for months now. Something`s always wrong at RHC. And now there is also QRDRM! noise from 6000-6005-6010, requiring LSB tuning of 6000 to hear anything at all. RHC should really be on 6100 for this, even for half an hour per week, but that would make too much sense and be too much trouble. Esperanto is lucky to be on *any* RHC at this hour. See FRANCE (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** FRANCE. 6000-6005-6010, Feb 11 at 0800 as I am trying to monitor RHC Esperanto on 6000, QRDRM noise ACI to it; see CUBA. Trans-Atlantic JBA MW carrier search, Feb 11 at 0252 UT: 801, 855-2, 1044. The beat on 855 is 2.4 Hz, likely two from Spain; mwoffsets shows 7 RNE outlets each on a slightly different frequency. I see a couple 2.2 Hz apart. Plus two more in the master list. 801 is unusual, but a het on 800 KQCV OK. There are a bunch of medium-powers in Spain, 10/25 kW. For 100+ kW, only Iran and Ethiopia, unlikely. 1044 also likely Spain. Considerable local line noise level only these could overcome even as JBA carriers; otherwise surely would have found more (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 1951 UT February 11 _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/

** ANTARCTICA. 15475.98 RC USB, Sat Feb 10 at 2300, LRA36 is on again, tnx to advance notice from Adrián Korol of RAE via Manuel Méndez. My favorite Argentine SDR is offline, so I bring up another one with a rather noisy signal, but 2301 s/on M&W chatting. It`s quite distorted too and hard to understand, maybe fault of rx not tx? 2327 I try Brasília and find it just as bad, so transmitter fault. Too painful to keep listening. By 0000 Feb 11 modulation improved but now someone is on a lofi phone line. 0013 into lofi music, but still mostly talk with some distortion; very rapid and colloquial conversation, rather than broadcast-quality speech with clarity and comprehension in mind. 0029 check direct: audible at S4 about the same as noise level. Argentine SDR also has intermittent high noise cutting on and off (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** OKLAHOMA. 90.1, Sat Feb 10 at 1044 UT when I happen to awaken, ``The Moldau`` is just ending and program ID as `Gameplay` -- so that reconfirms the secret programming Sats at 4-5 am CT i first ran across a few weeks ago. Still not acknowledged by KUCO in skedgrid nor in alfabetical program list. I search it out, to much more info and access to episodes: https://www.interlochenpublicradio.org/gameplay https://exchange.prx.org/series/39230-gameplay This was once on the KUCO sked during an evening waking hour before the massive programming shuffle a few months ago. Still undiscovered, what other secret program occupy the previous hour, Sat 3-4 am CST = 09-10 UT. Another recent unexpected change. Lane Whitesell`s post-Met unnamed vocal fill-music show has been reduced by an hour, ending Sat at 4 pm = 22 UT, with 22-23 UT now occupied by `Footlight Parade` an hour earlier than before with 23-24 UT now containing `Dinner and a Movie`, more cinemusic which I hear for the first time today, but whence? On Feb 10, Met was shorter than usual ending at 1950 UT after love-duets for Valentine`s Day, so Lane still had plenty of time to fill. Another2 change I had not noticed before but does show on sked: `Classical Guitar Alive` Saturday at 14-15 UT = 8-9 am CT, while `Performance Oklahoma` replay has shifted an hour later to 9-11 am CT = 15-17 UT; axually usually more like a sesquihour, but allows for variable lengths. Original airing is at 7 pm CT Thursdays = 01 UT Fridays. I would like to think that the latening results from a request I made months ago that 8 am was too early on a weekend. Since Kimberly Powell resigned a year ago, the new host has been relying more on recordings of UCO faculty members` own performances, rather than live events - that`s OK if there aren`t enough for a new liver every week. I find his announcing style annoyingly stilted, sorry; and he also needs some foreign language study. Note that despite its huge roster of programs, publicradiofan.com still has NO listings for `Gameplay`, `Reel Music`, nor `Dinner and a Movie`! Searching on the last title leads to loads of hits, all about a cooking TV show on TBS, revived last year, surely something else! Adding radio to the search gets it: out of KCME Colorado Springs: https://exchange.prx.org/series/34434-dinner-and-a-movie (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA [and non]. I sent this to Matt Rogers, host of `Reel Music`, i.e. cinematic, which is on KUCO 90.1 Fridays at 2 pm and Saturdays at 11 am CT = Thu 20 & Sat 17 UT: ``Enough snackbar --- Matt, Thanks for Reel Music, which I always listen to on KUCO, sometimes twice. While the vintage snackbar announcements were cute the first time, may I please ask you to phase them out? We listen to public radio to avoid hard-sell commercials! While these are all in fun, they do clash severely with the rest of the program. Why not have a contemporary hi-fi, soft-sell, perhaps female, voice record exactly the same texts and run those for a while? Regards, (Glenn Hauser, Enid OK``, WOR) ** TURKEY. 5960.005, Feb 10 at 2303, VOT English not off the air, S9+25/35 into UTwente. Final news item is about Turkish activity in Antarctica on Dismal Island - or Disney? sounds like, and Horseshoe Island; just as I am hearing LRA36 on another remote. 2310 into `The Energy Agenda`, 2318 music. Too much else going on this hour to listen continuously. 2349 more nice music. 2354 quick s/off as if the 1330 on 13635; 2254.5 IS got about an icosasecond before chopoff, no finesse, uncovering XJRTV in Chinese, std denunciations (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. Pre- `AAAWWW` WBCQ chex into NH SDR, Feb 10 at 0046: 3265 OFF. 5130.273 ATATT. 6150.933 TOMBS. 7489.951 FKB. 9330.000v WLCR. 0100 start of show monitored on 5130+ which is not quite ATATT. New ep since he refers to Tuck`s Putin interview. Always fiddling with Angela`s mike at start. Talking about his antique autos. Spotchex later, politix, etc. (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 9475, Feb 10 at 1937, George McClintock calls for a radiocheck as he has this WTWW frequency running. It`s rather weak and fading here, maybe S6 before shutting off, while neighbor 9980 WWCR is inblasting, S9+30. Says running about 40 kW on 9475, maybe less favorable antenna than WWCR. Also says waiting on one part to get #1 transmitter going again (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 0047 UT February 11 _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/
