** COLOMBIA. 10125 CW, Oct 17 at 0638, HK3QQ, BOGOTA with QWETY+ keyboard letters slowly with pauses. Looks like becoming regular again, 24 hours? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 2265)
** TURKEY [and non]. Re VOT on 11785.014- at 2233 Oct 16: ``Glenn, the "higher offset than usual" you 'measured' using UTwente yesterday, Oct 16, was caused by a malfunction for their AMSync-Function. They were 4 Hz +. This function is derived at UTwente by using the German Mainflingen timesignal DCF77 on 77.5 kHz. However this was off for one hour during late European afternoon from 1315 to 1415 UT, when they returned, they had some further two breaks in transmission. See attached pic from a snippet out of yesterdays' UTwente fulltime-waterfall-display. I noticed this non function of AMSync mode a couple of time these last years, with AMSync sometimes 100 to 200 Hz away from carrier. It usually takes a couple of hours for AMSync to be syncronized with DCF77 again. BTW, Kiwi's use GPS data for AMSync - it is called SAM on the Kiwis. See, you logged SW Gold Radio on the 16th as well, with 4 Hz above frequency {6160.004+ at 1813). Listened yesterday to WOF on 6145.004 at around 1915 UT and thought what`s wrong there. WOF is always "on spot". As I said in a post before - UTwente is not the 'Gold Standard' - antenna wise, high noise floor levels and often heavy interference on certain parts of the band. Cheers from Bremerhaven, Lesley Illingworth`` So need to check calibration of UTwente against WWV if audible, and also of KiwiSDRs (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2264 monitoring: confirmed UT Thursday October 17 at 0130 on WRMI 5010, S5/S7 into Brasília SDR vs storm noise. Also confirmed Thursday October 17 at 1630 on SW Gold Radio, Germany, 6160.001-, S9+5/15 into UTwente. This time I compare its calibration to JBA WWVs: 19999999.8 and 24999999.5 - close enough! But later at 1657: 24999998.57/.55v, 19999999.64/.76v WORLD OF RADIO 2265 contents: B24; Austria and non/AWR, Australia, Brasil, Canada, Chile and non, China, Colombia, Finland, Germany, Guam, Indonesia, International scouting, Israel, Korea South non, (Madagascar), Malaysia, (Mexico), Nauru, North America, (Oman), (Philippines), Russia, Solomon Islands, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, UK and non, USA, Vanuatu, Vietnam non; propagation outlook - (countries mentioned along with others not in order) WOR 2265 available from 0037 UT Friday October 18: (mp3 stream) https://www.w4uvh.net/wor2265.m3u (mp3 download) https://www.w4uvh.net/wor2265.mp3 Or via http://www.worldofradio.com/audiomid.html Also linx to podcast services. WTWW: ``Glenn, Bob forgot to remove my spot about Peters airtime on 9475. Thanks for the reminder. The 9475 transmitter driver inductor was cleaned and returned the transmitter to normal operation at 7 pm Central. We shall see what happens today at 7 pm. There is always some problem with transmitters. George McClintock 10-17-2024`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 11530.01 approx., Oct 17 at 0636, JBA carrier direct on the plus side, so maybe not Hikari FM which has always been on the minus side, 11529.9. ** BRAZIL. 28485 USB, Oct 16 at 2210, PY3PR calling CQDX and making quick contacts in English with US hams. QRZ.com: ``PY3PR Brazil flag Brazil, Paulo R. Ferreira, py3pr@arrl.net, Xangri-lá, RS, Brazil. My QTH is Xangri-lá, RS (GG 40), an atlantic seashore town in Southern Brazil where I also enjoy bycicling and fishing`` -- once again, 10m is replete with beacons; and phones, some of them working Parks On The Air (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CHILE [and non]. 28472 USB, Oct 15 at 2206, CA3VAK, Víctor in Santiago, contacting VA7LSA, also audible weaker. Already heard him about the same time on Oct 11, 4 kHz lower, q.v. 10m is crammed with beacons and phone, 11m CB full of QRM from all those skippers, many AM on inexact het frequencies. Must be the October peak. I spend some time bandscanning above 30 MHz for broadcast harmonix of 5, 6, 15 MHz bands, as well as below 30 for 9 MHz harmonix x 3, especially in the 28.5+ MHz range which is still mostly vacant of hams; but nothing. Even if propagation be possible, there are so few fundamentals anymore from Latin America. I also keep checking 35790 for Martí 3 x 11930 which did make it to Alberta, but no luck here where sporadic E would do it. But I urge others to be alert for such breakthrus (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** COLOMBIA [and non]. 10125 CW, Oct 16 at 0622, HK3QQ, keyboard alfabet with usual errors and ID. Also traces of USB, no doubt the Australian hams (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** JAPAN. 11965, Oct 15 at 2221, S9+10/20 in Japanese talk so strong that I suspect Madagascar relay, which is on 11965 at 20-21 but with MWV/WCB. HFCC shows at 2100-2300, NHK direct from Yamata, 300 kW at 235 degrees for SE Asia = Myanmar to Philippines to Indonesia. Directly off the back would be 55 degrees toward Sacramento and across Mexico, while we are at about 45 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NORTH AMERICA. 11529.9, Oct 15 at 2219, JBA presumed Hikari FM, pirate supposedly in Sonora next to Arizona, also reported about every day at wide hours by Rick Barton, AZ (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SPAIN. 17855, Tue Oct 15 it`s Sefarad/Ladino day on SNR at 2200, VG S9+20/30 direct and also not off the air on 17715, 15520 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SPAIN. 17855, Wed Oct 16 at 2200, token English from SNR, good direct and better than 17715, 15520; 15390 still AWOL. Missed interview topic but at 2219 ``near the end`` so contact info mixed with brief mailbagish acknowledgements to several listeners, until 2221, then music (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 11785.006+, Oct 15 at 2200, VOT s/on, S9+10/20 direct with some flutter. 2234 into UTwente when measured, VG S9+45, `Weekly Commentary` ending at 2235, music. 2240 `Turkey`s Geomarked Products` about mincemeat, music. 2251 multi-lingual ID filler reel. 2253 s/off as if it`s the 1230 on 17620. Something`s always awry at Ankara. 2254 IS briefly to chop 2254.5* (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 11785.014-, Oct 16 at *2200.4 direct, JBA signal cuts on but off by 2202* so assuming VOT in another try-but-fail. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler. However, recheck at 2216, now it`s on at S9+10/20 but insufficient vs noise level; and into UTwente at 2233 when measured, higher offset than usual, maybe different transmitter, S9+5/15 even there instead of usual blaster, poor and ``hollow`` sounding (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2264 monitoring: confirmed Tuesday October 15 at 2330 on SW Gold Radio, Germany, 3975.00+, S9/+15 into UTwente. Also confirmed Tuesday October 15 at 2330 on WRMI 9395 S9+30/35 into Georgia SDR. Also confirmed Wednesday October 16 at 1930 on SW Gold Radio, Germany, 6160.004+ into UTwente by time recording, axually tuned early at 1813 when measured and S9/+10, also 3975.005- at S+5 but not checked at 1930. Missed checking Wed Oct 16 at 2100 on WBCQ 7490-; anyone hear it? Next: 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S; 1630 UT Thursday SW Radio, Germany 6160. Thanks this week to John Spicer, ``You put your life into this and I just wanted to say thank you for your efforts. I really enjoy your show and the updates in print and radio`` with a contribution via PayPal to woradio at yahoo.com One may also contribute by MO or check on a US bank to: Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. Re my 17665, Oct 15 at 1442: ``On Wed Oct 16, NOTHING on 17665 kHz channel at 1308 nor at 1453 UT today. 73 wolfie df5sx`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 2348 UT October 16

** MADAGASCAR [and non]. 15440, Oct 15 at 1446, S Asian song S5/S9, one of strongest signals on band: hardly anything lower. Stronger than 15590 CRI English Urumqi, 15770 WRMI; weaker than 15610 VOA Vatican Kurdish and 15825 WWCR SSOB. 15440 this semihour is TWR Urdu via Talata. I wonder if TWR play any secular songs in languages, or do they have to be Christian? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2264 monitoring: confirmed UT Tuesday October 15 at 0330 on WRMI 7780, S9/+5 into Durango2 SDR. Also confirmed Tuesday October 15 at 1307 the 1300 on WRMI 9955, S9 direct; BTW, 9955 still on at 1440 check. Also confirmed Tuesday October 15 att 2000 on IRRS SW via AM Italia, 1322.995, S7/S9 into UTwente, slight CCI, and from 1314 ACI. Next: 2330 UT Tuesday WRMI 9395 to NNW; 2330 UT Tuesday SW Radio, Germany 3975; 1930 UT Wednesday SW Radio, Germany 3975 & 6160; 2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW; 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S; 1630 UT Thursday SW Radio, Germany 6160. Thanks this week to John Spicer, ``You put your life into this and I just wanted to say thank you for your efforts. I really enjoy your show and the updates in print and radio`` with a contribution via PayPal to woradio at yahoo.com One may also contribute by MO or check on a US bank to: Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 9955, Oct 15 at 0633, TOMBS via WRMI, S4/S5; now some weak pulse jamming also audible from the incompetent DentroCuban Jamming Command (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 660, Oct 15 at 0545 UT, L&C C&W, no doubt KTNN again on ND 50 kW day pattern (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 770, Oct 15 at 0546, `Red Eye Radio`, L&C, no doubt KKOB ABQ NM. Reported to be on STA of ND 12.5 kW at night now. Does that mean the Santa Fe night booster is now kept off? "KOB, originally, should have known better than to locate its 50 kW towers so close to an area which would eventually be filled with HABs (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)" ``Sometimes such decisions are a little bit better, but I still can't fathom how, when they installed Carlsbad Caverns, they knew that a parking lot would someday just happen to sprout there. Frank Merrill, Jr`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** VANUATU. 9960, Oct 15 at 0635, no signal from R. Vanuatu, nor on 7260, 7890, 11835. Ron Howard via remotes was hearing it on 3945 ex-9960 between 0915 and 1100 on Oct 14 but absent at 0415 Oct 15 from all known frequencies. I believe 9960 was still on as of Oct 14 before 0700, not always logged but checked nightly (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 17665, Oct 15 at 1442, talk by YL in French? dumped off air for a few seconds as I tune in direct, then back. And nothing at 1518 into UTwente. NOT listed for A24 in HFCC, EiBi or Aoki; nor in HFCC for B24 - nothing ever on this frequency. However, a few hours earlier today, Zacharias Liangas with a remote reported ``A signal started on 0657 on 17665 with level -110 dbm`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 2325 UT October 15

** CANADA. 28170 CW, Oct 14 at 2204, 10m beacon band really hopping, also phone, too many to attempt logging much. Here is VVV DE VA3XCD/B CAMDEN -- not bad for one sesquiwatt per WGB list: ``28170 VA3XCD/B - Camden East ON CAN FN14nj - #0 (13 Oct 2024) Note: VVV de ID + Camden East + grid - pwr 1.5w`` - see USA for a couple more (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** MEXICO [and non]. 800, Oct 14 at 0621, still distorted music QRMing KQCV OKC, from XEERG NL (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NORTH AMERICA. 7475, Oct 14 at 0303, anti-Christ pirate, Station YHWH, S9 but undermodulated and needs LSB tuning to avoid utehash on upperside (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SPAIN. 17855, Mon Ont 14 at 2159, S9+30/40 direct, and stronger as it should be than 17715 & 15520, token English from REE, 2200 preview to be interview about a theatre which won a yearly National Award, located in the Lavapiés [? wash-your-feet] neighborhood. No time to listen further (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 9875.004+, Sunday October 13 at 2047, VOT English starting `Letterbox`, S9+15/25 into UTwente. I`m getting this early in case the 2200 on 11785 be AWOL, and even if not, conflicting with otherstuff I want to get then. At first there is some CCI on 9875, presumably Korea North but stops about 2050. That supposedly resumes at 2100 but not noted then. Halil starts by saying we are entering spring - he means fall as he is in the northern hemisphere, it`s getting colder, and his name means Yellow Rock. 1) Otto Schultz, jokes as if nickname for Ottoman, small handwriting of 7/26 report from somewhere in USA, also listens to German service but can barely hear it, also several reception reports in same letter. 2) at 2055, Miss May ???, Sichuan, China. 3) at 2057, Dick/Richard King in England, hopes TRT will not stop SW. Now there is rapid clicking QRM, OTHR? 4) at 2100, handwritten from Shanyang Kan?, China, 2 reports, wants 2 QSLs. 5) at 2103, another one from same. 6) at 2104, Ricky Hein, South Dakota, says he has no internet, no computer, got 11785 with 15111 SINPO! wants program guide and QSL. 2107, out of time, goodbye and music not program theme as I tune out. 11785, Oct 13 at 2200, weak signal pops on, visible at UTwente, but soon gone, so another try-but-fail to North America. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler. 7275, Oct 14 at 0258, IS & IDs in English, INTRUDER, S9+30/40 direct but with LSB QRhaM. Presumably this final repeat succeeds. 11785.007-, Oct 14 at 2158, VOT IS & English ID, S9+30 direct; 2202 olds; 2215 music; 2217 `The Energy Agenda` starting with tolls one year on, in Gaza and Lebanon, before getting into ME oil. 2231 into UTwente when measured, S9+25. Recheck 2245 music. 2254 s/off as if 17620 at 1230 - something`s always awry at Ankara. Do all those announcers have no idea the 1230 recording is repeated over and over? 2255 IS, 2256 restart IS with one German ID before 2256.6* chop. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 28204 CW, Oct 14 at 2205, AJ4YN/B, among many beacons audible now in big opening. WGB list: ``28204 AJ4YN/B - Chesapeake VA USA FM16uo - #0 (03 Oct 2024) Note: VVV - Pwr 5w (Ex 28285.5)``. See CANADA for another. 28250 CW, Oct 14 at 2206, KI6MTV/B, beacon not in WGB list, but QRZ.com: ``KI6MTV USA flag USA, Michael R Hislop, PO BOX 121, SHINGLE SPRINGS, CA 95682, USA - Hey, if you hear my beacon, (28.250 mhz) send me a message. I would like to hear from you. Don't forget to tell me the location where you heard the beacon. Thanks, Mike`` - well, I can`t send a msg since QRZ.com restricts email info to ham members only (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2264 monitoring: confirmed Sunday October 13 at 2000 on WRN Europe stream.. Also confirmed Sunday October 13 at 2157 the 2130 on SW Gold Radio, Germany, 3975.003-, S9 into UTwente. Not confirmed Sunday Oct 13 at 2330 on WRMI 7570 as that transmitter is still off the air following H. Milton. Confirmed UT Monday October 14 at 0041 the 0030 on WRMI 7780, S8/9+8 into Georgia SDR, S9+15/20 into Maryland SDR. It`s aimed WSW, so I look for the KiwiSDR at McAllen TX but it`s missing. Besides TWR Brownsville, which has always been poor, there is now one, NA5C designated `Rio Grande Valley` but really at Encino TX, which is in the middle of S Texas, about midway between McAllen and Alice to the north, and midway between Zapata on the west, and the Gulf coast. Confirmed UT Monday October 14 at 0301 on Area 51 via WBCQ, 6159.937, S9+10 direct but VP vs noise level. 0327 into NH SDR, S9+10/20 on 6159.930 with RTTY 6164 ACI. Confirmed Monday October 14 at 1958 the 1930 on SW Gold Radio, Germany, 3975.003-, S9+8 into UTwente; 6160 unchecked. Next: 0330 UT Tuesday WRMI 7780 to SW; 1300 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [also web-, phonecast; jammed?]; 2000 UT Tuesday IRRS 1323-Italy; 2330 UT Tuesday WRMI 9395 to NNW; 2330 UT Tuesday SW Radio, Germany 3975; 1930 UT Wednesday SW Radio, Germany 3975 & 6160; 2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW; 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S; 1630 UT Thursday SW Radio, Germany 6160. 9475, Oct 14 at 2330, this WTWW is still off air; the other transmitter dedicated to TOMBS is on 9930 now, and already around 1530 check. However, by 0214 UT Oct 15, 5085, the nighttime counterpart of 9475, is on the air as well as 5920 counterpart of 9930. A while ago, George was announcing that 9475 would be running Pastor Pete Peters at 3-5 pm CT daily = 20-22 UT, but if so, one would expect it to stay on with something until QSY time at 0100 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 660, Oct 14 at 0311 UT, song with lyrix I can`t comprehend, so in Diné/Navaho? soon ID as ``KTNN, Window Rock - Tohatchi - Shanto``. Must again be cheating on ND 50 kW day pattern, but kudos for the frequent shameless IDs. The third town alternates among various places in or near the Res. Then a regular C&W tune. This time some CCI in English, probably TX or NE not NY (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 770, Oct 14 at 0620 UT, `Red Eye Radio`, surely KKOB; NRC AM Log shows only one other RER on 770 but a daytimer + FM in AL. KKOB`s FM is not a translator on 96.3, originally the domain of classical KHFM, where I worked while at UNM 1965-1968. I also recorded there a weekly Hometown news summary for AFRTS. What a comedown to farright hatetalk (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 1152.1 kHz, Oct 14 at 0316 UT, carrier/het again. Anyone else hearing this? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) THE TINY TRAP Europa is a ``tiny moon`` about mission to find water, maybe life, Oct 14 at 1810 UT on MSNBC, report by Tom Costello. Yet it may contain twice as much water as Earth -- tiny?!? This report dispatched at 0233 UT October 15
