** INTERNATIONAL VACUUM [and non]. [WOR] Hedy Lamarr, spread spectrum
innovatress -- I just happened to run across this on the Cheddar News
cable channel; per TitanTV listings, repeats, here converted strictly
to UT times, days and dates:

[Cheddar News HD] The Lightbulb Moment
The Hollywood Actress That Laid The Groundwork For WiFi
(Repeat, 2/03/2021, S1/E1)
Sun June 23 1730 UT
Mon June 24 0530 UT
Sun June 30 1430 UT
Mon July 1  0230 UT
There may be more in July, as yet unspecified. Another episode is `How
Edison Reinvented Invention` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SAUDI ARABIA. 11935-, June 23 at 1947, checking for the Riyadh
roar, not done lately nor seen other reports: into UTwente, there it
is, maybe a trace of program music? modulation underneath, S9+15/25.
In synch mode stepping back and forth 5 kHz, can`t decide where to
land exactly: 11934.842, 11934.722 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 11785.009, June 22 not tuned in via UTwente until 2220,
S9+50/55 of VOT English, when it`s in music. 2224 multi-lingual ID
filler reel. 2227 music. 2232 `Turkey`s Geomarked Products` about
mulberry molasses. 2234 www.TRTEnglish.com promo, music. 2240 more
music. 2244 ``with-you-every-hour`` promo. 2245 music. 2248
TRTVOTworld.com promo, music. 2253 ``always-by-your-side`` promo and
s/off by Ms Badax as if this were the 1230 on 17620, and IS. 2256
restart IS with German IDs. 2300 s/on German and start Altrichten
until 2302.5* chopoff. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2248 monitoring. Not confirmed
Saturday June 22 at 2300 on WTWW 9475: except for my first 8 words or
so until switched to Scriptures for America Worldwide! I`ve asked Bob
& George if they intend to resume WOR on 9475 now or at any other
time? Bob indicates that this was an error.

Confirmed UT Sunday June 23 starting at 0411 on WA0RCR, 1860 AM, MO,
the nominal 0315v airing, S9/+15 into Georgia SDR with storm crashes.

Confirmed Sunday June 23 at 1900 on IRRS via AM Italia, 1322.995,
S9+15 into nearby Noale SDR. Next:

2130 UT Sunday SW Radio, Germany 3975 & 6160;
2330 UT Sunday WRMI 7570 to NW;
0030 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to SW;
0300vUT Monday WBCQ Area 51 6160v to WSW;
1930 UT Monday SW Radio, Germany 3975 & 6160;
0330 UT Tuesday WRMI 7780 to SW [irregular?];
1300 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [also web-, phonecast; jammed?];
2330 UT Tuesday WRMI 9395 to NNW;
2330 UT Tuesday SW Radio, Germany 3975;
1930 UT Wednesday SW Radio, Germany 3975 & 6160;
2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW;
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S;
1630 UT Thursday SW Radio, Germany 6160.

generous check on a US bank for Summer Solstice from Gerald T.

** U S A. Re FM DX log of WRVQ 94.5, Greg Hardison replies: ``I
checked the WRVQ entry on Radio-Locator, and sho' 'nuff, it jives out
there as 200 kW! I expected a bit of Corporate-Radio BS, perhaps
counting 100 kW twice, as in H + V modulation. So then checked it on
the FCC FM Query page: same deal, logging in at 200 kW. Apparently it
must pay to have connections, hi hi! And it's no real surprise to hear
a spot mentioning "the Beach". Much of my family's from that part of
the planet, and there is a good amount of commercial-and-leisure
trans-traffic up & down I-64 between Richmond and the Hampton Roads
area; much more so than one sees between Rchmd and D.C., which is only
about forty miles further away. As for the "ad" on the Liberty Univ.
Outlet, remember, the RW extremists are above any mere laws, so if
they are not divinely struck down while airing commercials below 92
MHz, then it must be all good! :^)> :^)>``

A few FM stations, notably in Michigan, were ``grandfathered`` in with
excessive powers. I just went thru all 634 MI stations in WTFDA FMDB,
and found only these super-powers:
93.7 320/320 kW ERP WBCT Grand Rapids
104.3 190/190 kW ERP WOMC Detroit
105.7 265/265 kW ERP WSBW Grand Rapids
And of the 515 VA stations, only one other >100/100 kW ERP:
99.1 190.9/190.9 kW ERP WSLQ Roanoke

I wonder if they acquired over-powered transmitter(s?) and/or greater
antenna gain? But especially how they justified greater coverage than
competitors (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** VANUATU [and non]. 7260, June 23 at 0625, RV is active JBA. The 40m
band now is crammed with hams for Field Day & Night?! Right now they
are far enough from 7260 not to be a problem: LSB on 7259, 7263.
Normally 40m LSB hams avoid the higher reaches anyway, more and more
below 7250 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. MUF spike to 107 MHz NW of here per DXMAP before 0200 UT
June 23, after a day mostly below 88 since big morning Es opening I
mostly missed; so out to the car for bandscan: nothing much, but 89.5,
an ``open for DX`` frequency except for ACI, has something JBA on it:
I rarely even trace KWGS Tulsa. Seems like ID at 0159, ``This is
CF---`` something and shortly gospelhuxterism mentioning prophecy,
body of Christ, etc. Any clues at WTFDA FM DB? After 0230 it`s
inaccessible, `Bad Gateway`, server overload. So I pull out the final
FM Atlas from 2010y: only 3 stations in western Canada, AB and BC,
none of them with CF-calls. O, WRTH 2024 shows that has not changed
much, nor in SK, MB. Meanwhile DXMAP shows paths between OK and WA,
nexus over WY, grrr.

Next day by 1538 UT June 23, FMDB is back in biz: of the 28 Canadians
on 89.5, the only CF- prefix is in Goose Bay. Is there a marginal
religious 89.5 around here? Yes, 23.5 kW KJCC Carnegie OK which I have
rarely logged; and three further translators in OKC, Elk City, and
Felt at far end of Panhandle. In KS, xltrs in Topeka, Parsons (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** GERMANY. ``Hi Glenn, thanks for your regular audio reports. Just to
let you know: We are going into summer mode for about 2 months of
time. Our new schedule is as follows:
https://shortwaveradio.de/en/summer-mode-2024

6160 kHz: 15:00 to 22:00 UTC - Monday until Friday
6160 kHz: 14:00 to 22:00 UTC - on Saturday
6160 kHz: 07:00 to 22:00 UTC - Sundays
3975 kHz: 17:00 to 00:00 UTC - daily

So the Monday slot at 08:00 UT has been canceled. Thanks for
cooperation and good DX, Andy (Engineer - Shortwave Radio, Winsen at
the River Aller, Germany)`` (via Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2248 monitoring: one must keep
checking the WRMI skedgrids in case a WOR time be deleted, or added: I
do find a new one for Saturdays 0930 UT on 9455. This is at 285
degrees = WNW for western N America, not too far off our azimuth from
Okee about 315. Since I strive to remain sound asleep at that hour,
ASAP almost 6 hours ahead, I asked the WOR group for someone to
confirm that, if they are already awake at 0930: not a single reply.

285 carries on across the Pacific, aimed right at Honolulu, by
coincidence? and then Majuro, Port Moresby, Kununurra, so I wonder if
there be sufficient reception in Australia or SE Asia. Local times:
Honolulu 2330, Majuro 2130, Port Moresby 1930, Kununurra 1730.

Confirmed UT Saturday June 22 at 0400 on WTWW 5085, VG direct; S9/+10
into NH SDR; S9+20/40 into Missouri SDR. Had been signing off at 0400*
other nights but still extended for WOR. Previous program wasn`t
finished but faded down by 0359 for ID and WOR. As usual, a bit of
music followed at 0429 until chopoff circa 0430* with no formal ID or
s/off.

Confirmed Saturday June 22 at 1440 the 1430 on SW Gold Radio, Germany,
6160.001, S7/S9 into UTwente in broad summersun.

Missed checking Sat June 22 at 1600 on WRN NAm webcast, but very
reliable.

Confirmed Saturday June 22 at 1735 the 1740 on SW Gold Radio, Germany,
6160.001 at S9+10  and 3975.002 at S8/9+10 into UTwente.

Also confirmed from 1941 Saturday June 22 on WA0RCR, 1860 AM, MO,
S9+15 into nearby SDR. Also confirmed in progress the 1930s on WRN N
America webcast and WRMI webcast only. Next:

** U S A. Saturday June 22, I`m not up and checking DXMAP until 1530
UT when I see a huge mess of sporadic E FM DX lines across
central/eastern USA with MUF above 100 MHz. So I hasten to check on
the DX-398 inside:

94.5 at 1534, ad mentioning the beach, ``Q-94`` non ID; RDS shows
SABRINA_, later FEATHER_, i.e. music refs, not ID. So it is:
WRVQ 94.5 RICHMOND VA 200.0 kW 109.0 m 37-24-15 77-18-55 HD Title &
Artist on Q94 CONTEMPORARY HIT RADIO Q-94

If it were merely Q94 the only hit on 94.5 would be Harlingen TX by
searching the Slogan field. So is there a hyphen in the VA one or not?
Stations should be required to utter ``dash`` or ``hyphen`` if that`s
the case. And look at that power, twice the normal 100 kW limit. How
did they pull that off? Richmond is inland, not on a beach.

94.9 at 1535, ad for Lowe? Fibre Internet, City of Roanoke VA PSA:
WSLC-FM 94.9 ROANOKE VA 95.5 kW 598.0 m 37-11-50 80-09-11 949 STAR -
Now Playing Title/Artist COUNTRY STAR COUNTRY 94.9

95.3 at 1537, ads for Colonial Williamsburg, Kia; Virginia Repertory
Theater, Amelia County Fair; ``New Country K-95``:
WKHK 95.3 COLONIAL HEIGHTS VA 47.0 kW 156.0 m 37-26-22 77-26-01 K95!
Title & Artist on New Country K95! COUNTRY K-95

If it were merely K95, the only hit on 95.3 would be Willmar MN by
searching the Slogan field. So is there a hyphen in the VA one or not?
Stations should be required to utter ``dash`` or ``hyphen`` if that`s
the case. Amelia County is west of C.Hts., SW of Richmond.

Then I move to the caradio, but the opening is almost finished:

88.3 at 1550, Liberty University mentioned, and several times, ``The
Journey``, commercial mentioning central Virginia; isn`t this the NCE
sub-band?:
WRVL 88.3 LYNCHBURG VA 28.0 kW 346.0 m 37-11-50 79-21-06 RELIGIOUS
TEACHING THE JOURNEY Liberty University

104.5 at 1605, WTER mentioned, and another station, probably referring
to gospelhuxter net members rather than this frequency, which may only
be normal fringer KZZW Mooreland OK. But WTER is not a valid FM or AM
call anywhere.

Nothing more to 1630 when I have just missed confirming WOR on WRN. At
1635 DXMAP shows the Es nexus has been over SE Missouri (Glenn Hauser,
Enid OK, WOR)

** ANTARCTICA [non]. Annual BBCWS Midwinter special for British
Antarctic Survey: no signals on all three frequencies direct at 2125
June 21: they should have run tuning signals for 5 minutes so
recipients could settle on best frequency. So I go to an Argentine SDR
which unwittingly provides sufficient reception. By 2129 there are
tones on Woofferton 11685 at S9/+15 and 9585 at S9/+10, but no 9870
Ascension. WOF is slightly late JIP the programmme upcut at 2130! But
now 9870 is on with a slightly better signal at S9+10/20 so I stick
with it. Chinese ACI from 9875 must be avoided. Begins talking about
observing penguins. 2135 about South Georgia. 2140 greeting from
Director of BAS, Prof. Jean Francis (sp?). 2142 calling Rothera base.
2151 menu of a previous celebration. At 2153 I make a quick recheck
direct: nothing better than JBA carrier on all three. Outro, hostess
Cerys Matthews is pronounced Care-iss, with a hard C. Bits of music
thruout, never a full piece, and closing with a snippet of `White
Xmas`. Of course most of the programmme was greetings and love-yous
from family members, including at least one from Australia (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. 101.5, I`ve realized that in DX bandscans the last
several weeks, I have not run across any signal at all in Spanish from
KOCD Okeene, R. Salvación which is/was a 14 kW relay of KWDW-LP, 100
watts horizontal only in OKC, shown with a different name, R. Bautista
Calvario. However KOCD is also horizontal only and my caradio has
vertical antenna only. But I used to hear it fringily, so suspect it`s
really silent. Only 50 km/31 miles (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR)

** SPAIN. 17855, Fri June 21 at 2202, token English from SNR, S9+10/30
into Maryland SDR, news; 2205 the Iberian lynx is no longer
endangered, just vulnerable. 2207 interview about the Teatro Real
developing ``American Fellows`` in the US. Has website with lots of
operas, ballets, flamenco, etc., also from other opera houses. Maybe
mentioned URL once in passing, uncopied. 2214 interview about how
computer animation works, an exhibition ``The Science of Pixar`` in
connexion with a new movie release; and I retune to TURKEY, q.v.
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 11785.009, Fri June 21 at 2200, VOT English not off the
air, s/on of the 1230 on 17620, S9+30/45 into UTwente; after listening
to part of SPAIN, I pick it up at 2221: `Weekly Analysis` about
relations with China, Turkey`s influence in central Asia but trade
balance still favors China. Somebody visited Xinjiang. 2229 outro and
into `Turkish Folk Tales`. 2237 music. 2242 `That`s Why` about
electromagnetism in the human body. 2248 music. 2253 Ms Badax s/off as
if 1230 on 17620, 2254 IS for a sesquitime, quickly chopped off, no
finesse. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** U S A. 28204.8 CW, June 21 at 1500, OBOB is EEEEEEEEEE DE KE4TWI/B
and grid square not copied. Very localized sporadic E, as in WGB list:
``28204.8 KE4TWI/B - Adolphus area KY USA EM66°° - #0 (25 Apr 2024)
Note: ID + grid - Ant vertical dipole 12w`` and QRZ.com: ``KE4TWI USA
flag USA, James W Tewmey, 402 Karlee Court, Lebanon, TN 37087, USA.
KE4TWI/B 28.2048 MHz is on the air again. For now, it's at my home QTH
until I move it back to Adolphus, KY. Unless I am in the shack or
there is lightning, it's usually on`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 5920/5950, June 21 at 0645, horrible spur field out of PMS
on WWCR 5935 which is S9+50 direct; various tones ever-changing; also
noise field detectable out further to roughly 5910/5960. Something`s
noxious at Nashville (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 2248 monitoring: confirmed Friday June 21 at
2054 the 2030 on IRRS via AM Italia, 1322.994 kHz, S7 peak with
complete fadeouts into UTwente across Europe, and storm noise.

Also confirmed the 2030 on WRMI webcast only, which I had removed from
sked when it failed to appear a few weeks ago.

But I missed checking the Fri June 21 at 2200 on WRMI 9955; anyone
hear it? Likewise at 2230 on SW Gold Radio, Germany, 3975. Next:

** U S A. 7489.930, June 21 at 2201 quick check into Maryland SDR,
this WBCQ provides S9+5 of dead air.

At 2348 pre-`AAAWWW` check into NH SDR: 5130 is ON, -21 Hz and must be
a different transmitter than before: 5129.979 at S9+15 and playing FKB
preacher, instead of A*ATT! // 3265.128 at S7/9+5; 7489.931 at
S9+10/20. 2359 Allan comes on with ID and WTO theme 0000 June 22.
Complains he has blisters on blisters. 0003 brings in Angela on phone.
3 weeks ago his shoulder started hurting, arthritis. Has been working
on power transformers this week; even in record heat of 96 F three
days ago. Also working on 5130 Number 2 transmitter a lot. A 50 kW
Collins made in 1953. Boosting power and modulation. Everything there
is single-phase except the SuperStation. Denounces electric companies
as Ponzi schemes. 0033 pause to say trimulcasting again but no
datestamp; obviously this one is current and live. Wants to bring R.
Angela service back on 5130 with good programming, but electric is
outrageously expensive now; generally charges $ 50/hour, trying to hold
to that. Household AC of 120V is most dangerous because it locks you
up, paralyzing, unlike DC. 0056 apologizes for dominating the
conversation about transmitter crap. 0058 a bit of email, Jerry from
Nyack. Amazingly, hardly anything political, no mention of *rump or
whether he will be back on 5130. 0059 prayer. As usual runs past 0100,
JIP Hal Turner almost a minute late, and 3265, 5130 are still on.
Under him I can JB still hear Allan talking to Angela on phone before
they hang up by 0103, then some musical crosstalk on 5130 at least.
Not rechecked until 0209 when 3265+ & 5130- are both off (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. DXMAP shows FM DX sporadic-E nexus over eastern Arkansas, a
bit too close to be effective here, but check it out in the car
anyway, June 21 at 1716 UT. Isolated signal on 94.5 fading way in and
completely out several times, ad for romanocars.com in Syracuse, and
also Fayetteville, various brands: unseems two different stations, so
is there a Syracuse in NC, likely direxion beyond AR? NO, but
Fayetteville is a suburb of Syracuse NY! 1724 another ad mentioning
Syracuse. So it is per WTFDA FMDB:
WYYY 94.5 SYRACUSE NY 100.0 kW 198.0m 42-56-46 76-07-07 Y94 The 80s To
Now Adult Hits ADULT CONTEMPORARY

I see that I have also logged WYYY the past two summers. Total
bandscanning bottom to top does not find any other likely Esignals. I
take a break and resume at 1800, after DXMAP as of the hour until 1748
had the major nexus over central Illinois, which is just about right
for midway to Syracuse. 1993 km/1239 miles

93.9 at 1800, Meximx briefly CCI to Watonga which is still modulating.
Surely not KWDW-LP, cf OKLAHOMA.

95.3 at 1801, CCI to KOKC translator says ``Saratoga County, New
York`` - unless it was mentioned on KOKC net news itself. Not enough
to go on, but I investigate: there is only one station more than 1 kW
in this part of NY besides LI, on opposite side of Adirondax from
Saratoga County, and not too far from Syracuse in another direxion:
WLFK 95.3 GOUVERNEUR NY 6.0 kW 100.0m 44-20-22 75-24-00 COUNTRY THE

** CUBA. 15140, June 20 at 1906, RHC is on, had been missing from here
for several days, S7/S8 and hard to understand. At first sounds like
Spanish intonation instead of English but maybe just heavy accent as
next speaker recognizably English. Modulation is also breaking up.
Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

As noncommercial services, financial support appreciated. Thanks for a
generous check on a US band for Summer Solstice from Gerald T. Pollard,
Raleigh NC, to: Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702.

One may also contribute via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to:
woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 9395 // 9455, June 20 at 0632, WRMIs parallel this hour
during Supreme Master TV environmental cult, introducing ``worldwide
weather`` --- and then nothing but music! Obviously video grafix only.
Not such a bright idea to put TV soundtrack on radio without adapting!
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 2248)

** U S A. 15770, Thu June 20 at 2149, WRMI presumably `On the Media`
as now sked, quick check during WOR produxion pause to run the studio
AC, discussing Les Moonves, ex-CEO of CBS, who has been in trouble
again. Would OTM end at 2154 as its podcasts are typically 54 minutes
long, allowing for news on the hour? No, still going at 2155 (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 5130+, June 20 at 0628, A*ATT of WBCQ is still off again,
tsk4, not even a JBA carrier direct (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO
2248)

** U S A. 1130 kHz, June 20 at 1859 UT, ``Your home for Wichita`s
classic hits, 104.1 and 1130 AM, KLEY``, and music. So the silly
sportstalk I heard about golf was aberrant, whew. It now has a street
address in Wichita, but site at Wellington barely exceeds Wichita at
`local` level, and you should see the tiny nighttime coverage if were
really one watt; at radio-locator.com which also slogans it ``Music
You Love`` as also on own website, ``From the 70`s 80`s & 90`s``
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** VANUATU. 7260, June 20 at 0626, RV remains on air with music S8/S9
direct. I can always tell whether it`s off, but never good enough for
comprehensible listening (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 2248)
