Glenn Hauser logs January 10-11, 2025 |
|
Saturday, January 11 2025
 ** OKLAHOMA. 1640 kHz, Jan 11 at 0702 & 2117 UT, KZLS is **still** dead air, as first noticed Jan 9 at 0755, some 61 hours so far. I always wonder if advertisers in such a situation get a rebate, or no one notices anything amiss? Why in the world is Chisholm Trail Broadcasting burning 610+ kWh of juice for nothing, not including inefficiency factor (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** OKLAHOMA. Accompanying the dead air in $ tereo, I finally photograph the 95.1 sign in downtown Enid among the snow: OG&E Tree of Lights: https://www.w4uvh.net/95.1_OG&E_Enid.jpg (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. RF 17, Jan 11 at 1900 UT, K17JN-D, 3ABN on 17-1, Enid`s only local TV signal, is *still* dead audio, as first noted Dec 9, over a month ago!!! And still for more than a year mis-IDing itself as K17JI-D, which is really in California. I do see a program plug for ``Adventist World Radio`` in a sesquihour at 2030 UT, or `AWR 360 Broadcast to Baptism`. Another weekly time for that is Mondays 1100 UT. I watched some eps months ago and found there was precious little if any info about the frequencies, Kenneth of transmitters allegedly responsible for converting heathens, or from other Christian subcults? Fortunately 17-6, labeled 3ABN-PH carries the same programming as 17-1, and it has audio! Unfortunately, they split apart at 2030 UT, so the AWR show remains speechless on 17-1 only. I watch it anyway, seems to be about Europe, especially Ukraine, so not likely involving any SW; even before AWR drastically reduced its SW output. Furthermore, no closed captioning which could have been a saving grace (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA [and non]. As of Jan 10, Optimum cable in Enid and presumably everywhere blox Nexstar stations, because of failure to reach agreement on costs. Here that includes our NBC affiliate, KFOR! (``4``) and all its subchannels, and its full-power substation KAUT (``43``, RF 19 ATSC 3.0, Cable 2), as well as NewsNation which had been on cable 85. Optimum already raised prices and now offers less! Apparently has something to do with MSG and sports rights, about which we don`t give a damn, and would gladly dispense of ALL sports cable channels and their costs. Fortunately, KFOR RF 27 is an OKC station with reliable direct by antenna reception, even the UHF loop near ground level by a south-facing window, and certainly via rooftop antenna. Optimum is trying to drive us to some streaming service which includes Nexstar. More about this: https://www.cnet.com/tech/services-and-software/optimum-and-msg-the-latest-on-2025s-first-cable-carriage-dispute/ (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR) ** SPAIN. 9690, Fri Jan 10 at 2300, token English from SNR, VG S9+45 into Georgia SDR, starting with news this time. Too busy to listen undividedly, but around 2320 interview feature about an exhibition [what else?] ``Beyond a single`` something in Miami; 2326 pop music fill by ``headliners`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2277 monitoring: confirmed Friday January 10 at 2300 on WRMI 9955, S9+30 into Georgia SDR. Also confirmed Friday January 10 at 2330 on SW Radio, Germany, 3975-, S7 into Sligo, no signal into UTwente that late at night. Not confirmed UT Sat Jan 11 at 0400 on 5085, as WTWW is still off the air; next week? Also confirmed Saturday January 11 at 1552 on SW Radio, Germany, the 1530 on 6160.001, S9+10 into UTwente, with usual ChiCom ACI from S9+10/15 6165, but evitable by LSB tuning and/or reduced bandwidth. Stayed on air 1600+ with ``Weekend Music Radio, Scotland`` including Morse code ID at 1605; now 3975.000+ is also on, S9+10, maybe before 1600 too? 6160 itself does not face CCCCI until 1800, but off before 1730 recheck. Also confirmed Saturday January 11 at 1700 on WRN North America stream. Also confirmed Saturday January 11 at 1830 on SW Radio, Germany, 3975, S5/S8 into Sligo SDR, nothing into UTwente. Also confirmed Saturday January 11 at 2030 on WRN North America stream. And 2100 on WRN Europe stream. Also confirmed Saturday Jan 11 starting at 2058 the 2030v in WA0RCR, 1860 AM, MO, VG S9+21 by groundwave into nearby SDR. Next: 0000 UT Sunday WTWW 9475 [suspended]; 0100 UT Sunday WRMI 9955 to SSE [also web-, phonecast; jammed?]; 0330vUT Sunday WA0RCR 1860-AM [nominal 0415; as late as 0600]; 1130 UT Sunday WRMI 9955 to SSE [also web-, phonecast; jammed?]; 2000 UT Sunday IRRS 1323-Italy; 2230 UT Sunday SW Radio, Germany 3975; 2330 UT Sunday WRMI 7570 to NW [and/or 7780]; 0030 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to SW; 0930 UT Monday SW Radio, Germany 6160; 2030 UT Monday SW Radio, Germany 3975; 0330 UT Tuesday WRMI 7780 to SW; 1400 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [also web-, phonecast; jammed?]; 1500 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [also web-, phonecast; jammed?]; 2100 UT Tuesday IRRS 1323-Italy; 0030 UT Wednesday WRMI 9395 to NNW; 0030 UT Wednesday SW Radio, Germany 3975; 2030 UT Wednesday SW Radio, Germany 3975; 2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW; 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S; 1730 UT Thursday SW Radio, Germany 3975. Thanks this week for a very generous contribution via PayPal in US funds but not necessarily, to woradio at yahoo.com, from Peter Robinson, Preston UK, and says, ``All the best for the New Year, 73's to all DXers, especially British DX Club.`` One may also contribute by money order or check on a US bank to: Glenn Hauser, PO Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. Pre-`AAAWWW` WBCQ chex, UT Sat Jan 11 at 0055 into Georgia SDR: 3265 & 5130 off. 6160 -69 Hz = 6159.931 music, S9/+15. 7490 -75 Hz = 7489.925, S9+20/30 with FKB. At 0058, 5130 -32 Hz = 5129.968 now on with IS & ID, S9/+10. At 0100, 6160- starts something else despite program guide, while 5130- & 7490- combine into `WTO` theme of `AAAWWW`. Allan`s first voiceover: ``It`s the beauty of broadcasting...`` 0103 greeting Angela, ``you have a frog in your throat -- at least it`s not me``, hee hee. Assessing the temperatures in Florida. Most of the program is extolling AM Radio = which includes shortwave. 0140 finally datestamp as 10th of January, YOOLF 2025, simulcasting on 7490 & 5130. 0141 plays music Ian requested, a Bolero in tribute to Jeff Beck, recently deceased guitarist. 0144 fiddling around, 0146 playing some hard rock music for Angela, after trying to get her to pick out something. 0155 wants to put Radio Caroline, now on AM in England, on SW, but needs someone to underwrite it. 0158 quick look at some emails, past 0200, prayer, and after 0202 JIP Hal Turner (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 1640 kHz, Jan 11 at 0702 UT, Relevant Radio, under S9+42 of still dead air from KZLS Enid, so it`s WSJP, Sussex WI again (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED [and non]. Jan 11 at 0712-0725 or so UT, I tune the entire beacon band via 100-foot E/W longwire, and detect many JBA carriers vs intolerable local line noise level which has abated only slightly; and no storm noise now. Without the line noise I would have many more definite logs. Results, reference dxinfocentre.com including (best guesses) based on previous logs, proximity, power, otherwise calls definitely logged: 227, (FZ St Louis MO, TNZ Walnut Ridge AR) 251, (AM AMarillo TX) 255, SW StillWater OK 260, (JH Jackson MS) 267, HET HenryETta OK 278, (CEP Ruidoso NM, IL Killeen TX) 284, (BT Baton Rouge LA, SLG Siloam Springs AR) 293, FBY FairBurY NE 300, (YIV Island Lake MB) 305, (OI SiOux cIty NE, RO ROswell NM) 326, MA MidlAnd TX 329, PMV PlattsMouth NE 332, IC wIChita KS 335, BV BatesVille AR 338, TU TUlsa OK 341, DNI DeNIson TX 344, JL JopLin MO 346, dash and YXL, SiouX Lookout ON 353, LI LIttle Rock AR 356, ODX Ord NE 359, (GGF Grant NE) 362, (CD ChaDron NE) 365, (AA Fargo MN) 375, (DS Searcy AR, LF LaFayette LA) 379, RU RUssellville AR = RUE miskeyed 385, (UWL New Castle IN, HO HOt Springs AR) 391, (DDP San Juan PR) 395, CA Newton KS 400, (AHQ wAHoo NE) 404, (HU HUtchinson KS) 407, OOC NatchitOChes LA - NEW, 25 watts, instead of usual HRU Herington KS 420, (FQ Fairmont MN) (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 1280, Jan 11 at 0706 UT tuneby, immediate ID as ``1280 WBBN`` or so I thought. Looking up later, no such call nor anything fuzzily similar. There is a WBBN-FM in Taylorsville MS on 95.9 but no connexion to 1280. Desperate, I look for fuz/sims on 640 of which 1280 would be 2X: WMEN, Royal Palm Beach FL; WBIN Atlanta GA; CBN St. John`s NL --- all extremely unlikely (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 2135 UT January 11

 ** CANADA. 680, Jan 10 at 0727 UT, Canadian-orientated talkshow, suspect CJOB. Yes! 0728, promo CJOB sports. Dominating on E-W longwire, rather than KKYX or KFEQ. Like so many scofflaw Canux, CJOB must not be on legal night pattern, all signal heading NNE from Winnipeg (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CHINA [and non]. 9155, Jan 10 at 1626, S5 Chinese, martial music; also 9255 sounds same, but local blob QRM; and same on 9560 where two carriers are detectable, beating. Aoki shows all 3 are CNR1 *jamming: vs Sound of Hope, 24h on 9155, supposed only until 1600 on 9255; and 9560 this hour only vs RFA Taiwan in Uighur (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NORTH AMERICA. 7475, Jan 10 at 0706, Station YHWH on late again, the thin voice of Josiah JBA at S8 = local noise level. Ron Howard also reports at 0727: ``YHWH (7475) heard from 0715+ UT; extremely poor everywhere I checked remote! The poorest I have ever heard him. Ron (Monterey, Calif.)`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. 1640 kHz, Jan 9 at 1931 UT chex, KZLS Enid still dead air. Jan 10 at 0750 UT, 24 hours after first noted, KZLS is STILL in dead air, but hearing another station under it, see USA: WSJP. Jan 10 at 1630, 2132, KZLS STILL3 dead air (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. 95.1, Jan 10 at 2030, OG&E Part 15? transmitter next to Garfield County courthouse still on air but resumed dead air in $ tereo (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2277 monitoring: missed checking 1300 UT Friday Jan 10 on WRMI 15770; anyone hear it? Tuned in after 1330 to robotic Bibling typical of Alameda. Is that AI? Or just a text reader. Confirmed Friday January 10 at 2130 on IRRS SW via AM Italia, 1322.998, S8 into nearby Parma SDR; preceded by music and 2129 DRM promo curtailed, NEXUS ID. Next: 2300 UT Friday WRMI 9955 to SSE [also web-, phonecast; jammed?]; 2330 UT Friday SW Radio, Germany 3975; 0400 UT Saturday WTWW 5085 [has been off the air]; 0930 UT Saturday WRMI 9455 to WNW [has been off air; or 7730]; 1530 UT Saturday SW Radio, Germany 6160; 1830 UT Saturday SW Radio, Germany 3975; 2030vUT Saturday WA0RCR 1860-AM [2000/2200]; 0000 UT Sunday WTWW 9475 [suspended]; 0100 UT Sunday WRMI 9955 to SSE [also web-, phonecast; jammed?]; 0330vUT Sunday WA0RCR 1860-AM [nominal 0415; as late as 0600]; 1130 UT Sunday WRMI 9955 to SSE [also web-, phonecast; jammed?]; 2000 UT Sunday IRRS 1323-Italy; 2230 UT Sunday SW Radio, Germany 3975; 2330 UT Sunday WRMI 7570 to NW [and/or 7780]; 0030 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to SW; 0930 UT Monday SW Radio, Germany 6160; 2030 UT Monday SW Radio, Germany 3975; 0330 UT Tuesday WRMI 7780 to SW; 1400 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [also web-, phonecast; jammed?]; 1500 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [also web-, phonecast; jammed?]; 2100 UT Tuesday IRRS 1323-Italy; 0030 UT Wednesday WRMI 9395 to NNW; 0030 UT Wednesday SW Radio, Germany 3975; 2030 UT Wednesday SW Radio, Germany 3975; 2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW; 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S; 1730 UT Thursday SW Radio, Germany 3975. 9495: as I notified Jeff White: ``9395 transmitter was putting out a loud and extremely distorted spur approx. 9495 last night during SMTV. Never heard anything like that before from WRMI. Also, the modulation on 9395 itself was somewhat distorted, S9+20/25`` - First noted at 0711 Jan 10; at 0715 ``global weather``, entirely musical as must have been a visual display only. Hey, SMTV, this is RADIO! (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 1640 kHz, Jan 10 at 0750 UT, KZLS Enid *still* in dead air of S9+40, or is it JBM? Some steady talkshow clearly audible, but not // 1390 KCRC as KZLS would be. Anti-immigrant subject, mentions Franciscans, so Catholic? Fades a bit 0755, 0759 multi-station Wisconsin IDs, and ``Relevant Radio`` - so it`s WSJP Sussex, HQ address in Green Bay. Network attributes 1640, however, to Milwaukee (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report despatched at 2259 UT January 10

NRC AM Log shows part of the time, WKDA is in the group ``FM 98.9 Real Country``: WCOR 1490 Lebanon, WANT 98.9 and mere translator W252DU 98.3, which in the Groups listing disincludes WKDA. 900 listing shows another mere translator for it, W270DM, 101.9. 900 is U1 5000/136 watts. Radio-locator shows a previous callsign for WKDA was WCOR. It also shows slogan ``Radio Luz`` which sounds Spanish, but no hint of Spanish in NRC AM Log, rather split format of C&W and NOS. WTFDA FM DB shows W252DU is a relay of WCOR 1490. Is that clear? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 0142 UTJanuary 10

 {Last report was misyeared as 2024 - inevitably...}
** CUBA [and non]. 870, Jan 8 at 0738 UT, wobbler against WWL at more rapid rate than usual, likewise on 1040 against WHO, further implying some relation between the two. However in WRTH 2025, the one Cuban on 1040 is not at same site as any of the three on 870. If intended as jamming, IIRC, WWL was one of the stations coöpted by USG during Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962y, but probably not WHO. But was 1040 a USG frequency from the Keys before 1180? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** MEXICO [and non]. 800 kHz, Jan 8 at 0737 UT, distorted mess from XEERG, NL, is worse than usual vs KQCV. When are they ever going to fix it or turn it off? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. 95.1, Jan 8 circa 2200 UT, OG&E downtown Enid lowpower, which was deadair in $ tereo when last checked a biday ago, is still on and has resumed, but very undermodulated as before, now with pop music such as ``Jolene`` rather than Xmassy (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR) ** SPAIN. 17715.09v, Jan 8 at 1856, REE IS, S7/9+10 direct, the SAm beam, compared to 9690, NAm beam which is JBA direct: clear triumph of LUHF over azimuth, i.e. much better on higher frequency for SAm, than lower one for us in NAm; 1859 s/on the two WHem frequencies as 19-03 UT weekdays, 15-24 weekends. 17715 seems to be drifting downward as it warms up. At 1908 into UTwente, S8/S9 on 17715.013. By 2300 for token Wednesday English, 9690, 17715 and 17755 achieve NO signal direct, and 12030 but a JBA carrier. So I check it at UTwente, where 9690 is JBA, but 12030 is fair at S8 but fadeouts (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 5960.003+, Jan 8 at 2318, TRTWorld S9+5 direct but too hi noise level; VG S9+35 into UTwente with in-depth report from a large Palestinian neighborhood in SW Chicago (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 257 MCW kHz, Jan 8 at 0728 UT, JYR, 25-watt NDB at York, Nebraska. Seldom heard despite one of closest in that state, and `local` to the Total Solar Eclipse area we visited. 341 MCW kHz, Jan 8 at 0726 UT, DNI, DeNIson TX NDB is JBA but not the other 341, OIN, OberlIN KS. 251 MCW kHz, Jan 8 at 0730 UT, some beacon hard to copy, probably AM, AMarillo TX, mixing with another. No obvious familiar ones listed (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 2276 monitoring: ``Good evening Glen... World of Radio was missing on WRMI's 9395 kHz tonight (7:30 PM EST Tuesday here in GA). It was replaced by Wavescan. Wavescan aired again 1 hour later on the same frequency. Just wanted you to know. Love your show. Regards, Hank Blackwood`` NOT confirmed UT Wednesday January 8 at 0030 on WRMI 9395, rather Wavescan, despite it also one hour later on same. System G sked now shows WS at both times and not WOR. That leaves us with no airings on one of the best frequencies across North America. I asked Jeff if he can find any other time for WOR on it - or maybe 9455 when it`s back in full service. Now he has replied that WOR will resume on 9395 at 0030 UT Wednesdays, tnx. Confirmed, however, UT Wednesday January 8 at 0030 on SW Radio, Germany, 3975.004-, JBA into UTwente but S7/S8 into further Sligo, Ireland SDR. Confirmed Wednesday January 8 at 2030 on SW Radio, Germany, 3975, S7/S8 into Sligo, nothing into UTwente. Also confirmed Wednesday January 8 at 2200 on WBCQ, 7490 -75 Hz = 7489.925, S9/+10 into Maryland SDR. Preceded not by `Pirate Joe Extravaganzo` but by TOMBS. Next: 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S; 1730 UT Thursday SW Radio, Germany 3975. Thanks this week for financial support from Chris Krug, Tulsa OK, a contribution via PayPal in US funds but not necessarily, to woradio at yahoo.com, and says, ``Warmest Holiday Greetings, Glenn! Thanks for all you do!`` One may also contribute by money order or check on a US bank to: Glenn Hauser, PO Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 5085, Jan 8 at 0354, no signal from WTWW-2, nor earlier but I might have missed it; nor before 0100 on 9475. 9930/5920 WTWW-1 continue to be reliable with TOMBS (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 13845, Jan 8 at 1902, no signal from WWCR-3 direct, while 12160 WWCR-2 inbooms. By 1937, 13845 is JBA. At 1943, 13845 is also JBA into UTwente, where it`a aimed toward Europe at 40 degrees. 9980 WWCR-4 deliberately off M-F at 17-23 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 1580, Jan 8 at 0749 UT, super-hype voice actor [SHVA] in Spanish, ``1580 y 98.1``. Of few USSS on 1580, NRC AM Log has a hit: WHLY South Bend IN, U2 1000/500 watts, La Raza. This group is headed by 98.1, a mere translator, W251AR, and also includes a 1460 station (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 1360.02 kHz approx., Jan 8 at 0742 UT, Mexmxmix, 0745 Spanish ID as ``1360 AM y 96.3 FM``. I can find no such AM/FM correlation in IRCA Mexican Log, NRC AM Log, WTFDA FM Database, broad search; nor in MW offsets, anything that far off+ anywhere. In case it were really 93.3 or 106.3, same search with no hits. Have been hearing the LAH for a long time. The off-frequency one is not necessarily the one in Spanish. IRCA lists two Mexicans active and 3 CPs on 1360. In NRC AM Log, by language and proximity, the three most likely are KGMR Clarksville AR, KTNZ Amarillo TX and KMNY Hurst TX. Both Texans are religious which this unseems. Ideas? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 0010 UT January 9, 2025
