Glenn Hauser logs April 29-30, 2025  View Printable Version

Logs
** FRANCE. 11995, Apr 30 at 0606, African language S9/+5. EiBi shows
RFI in Hausa at 0600-0630 via ISSoudun. This has a better signal than
11700 RFI in French which is 250 kW at 200 degrees. 11995 is 250 kW at
170 degrees, neither anywhere near thisaway. IIRC 11995 is a frequency
inherited from Africa Number One, Gabon; remember? (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** JAPAN. 15195, Apr 30 at 0609, NHK IS, 0610 `Sakura` theme and
opening Chinese, S3 direct; odd time to start a broadcast, but
Mandarin indeed scheduled at 0610-0630. Many language services last
only 20 minutes now, otherwise Russian, Korean, French, Arabic, Farsi,
Hindi, Urdu, Thai, as in:
https://new.hfcc.org/data/schedbybrc.php?seas=A25&broadc=NHK
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** KOREA NORTH. 15245.24 approx., Apr 30 at 2214, JBA talk, S6/S7 with
flutter, no doubt VOK Spanish as sked this hour. Aoki ignores the fact
that this is perpetually off+frequency, quite a signature, but EiBi
shows 15245.2, also at long hours of 07-09, 13-2350. If you do hear
something on 15245.0 at other times it would be CRI or RFA Taiwan
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. 1460, Apr 30 at 2225 UT, KZUE El Reno ID as ``La
Tremenda, 1460 AM y 97.7 FM``, and maybe then ``Radio Fórmula`` as in
NRC Log for this ``group``, which shows *two* FM translators on 97.7:
K249FG and K249EN. WTFDA FM Database shows K249EN also in El Reno, 250
watts vertical only, in Spanish; but mixed up about the other, K249FG
in OKC, G.C. slightly south and east of the other one, which is shown
as 250 W H&V, Spanish, yet ``smooth jazz``, ``The City``, which also
applies to KCYI-LP, 42 watts in OKC, but axually from Edmond, ex-97.5.
It seems that two translators and an LP on the same frequency in one
Metro would not be viable. 97.7 is blocked here with a local in Enid.
In English it`s ``Ree-noh``; would have to catch a full ID in Spanish
whether they can say ``Ray-noh``. KZUE itself is a 500-watt daytimer.
And does this R. Fórmula relate to the real Mexican network/brand?
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. 95.5, Apr 30 circa 2030 UT, rock music sounds mono altho
$ tereo pilot is on; local quality briefly on caradio around Cleveland
and west OK Garriott intersexion. By a mile east at OKG and South Van
Buren, where 1670 Virtual DJ Radio dominates, 95.5 is losing out to
real FM stations in the fringes: KWEN Tulsa, KWEY Clinton or KAHE
Dodge City. Heard same a day or two ago and figured some car`s RF
feeder, but this is apparently more permanent pirate (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** SPAIN. 17715 = 15500 > 15520 > 15390, Wed Apr 30 at 2208, all SNR
frequencies active for token English, all about the blackout/apagón of
Apr 28. In order here by decreasing strength direct (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** TURKEY. 11785.007-, Apr 30 at 2209, VOT not off the air, S8/S9
direct already in music after olds. At 2241 into UTwente when
measured, S9+10, ``always-by-your-side`` promo, music; 2245
``with-you-every-hour`` promo, music. 2253 s/off as if it`s the 1230
on 17620, IS to 2254.6*. Something`s always awry at Ankara (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2292 monitoring: ``Richard Lemke,
St. Albert, Alberta, Canada, From the desk of Richard’s listening
Post, Radio: JRC NRD-535 HF (30 years of service), Antenna: random
long wires in the trees, WRMI, USA, World of Radio #2292: 9395 kHz,
QRN, voice heard made out, S6 signal, 2345, 2359, April 29 UTC 2025
[Tuesday] (Lemke, Richard -AB)``

Confirmed Tuesday April 29 at 2330 on WRMI 9395, S9+20/30 into Georgia
SDR.

Also confirmed Tuesday April 29 at 2331 on SW Radio, Germany,
3975.003+, S8/S9 into UTwente.

Also confirmed Wednesday April 30 at 1934 the 1930 on SW Radio,
Germany, 6160.001-, S9/+10 with RTTYditty de 6164, into UTwente, and
also on 3975.002- S9+5 weaker on meter but louder.

Also confirmed Wednesday April 30 at 2106 the 2100 on WBCQ 7490 -74 Hz
= 7489.926, S7/S9 into Maryland SDR. Next:

0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S;
1630 UT Thursday SW Radio, Germany 6160.

Financial support appreciated for our non-commercial public
service program: thanks for a generous contribution from Dan Sheedy,
Encinitas, California, ``Hey Glenn, big thanx 2 ya for all your
efforts keeping DX  info up 2 date - Cheers from the beach,
Dan -- PS stay safe, strong & may we all survive `25!`` - to
Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702.

One may also contribute via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to
woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 9955, Apr 30 at 0603, WRMI off again instead of TOMBS. Reply
to my obs yesterday: ``WRMI latest schedule, Overcomer overnight
Saturday & Sunday only now. Peter W Hansen``. I think it has been
confusingly labeled like that for a long time, despite really running
9955 all night every night (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** VANUATU. 9960, April 30 at 0603, R. Vanuatu in presumed Bislama
talk, S6/S9 direct. But soon gone again:

``Hello all, 30/04, around 0834 all R. Vanuatu's known frequencies are
off. 2485, 3945, 5040, 7260, 7890, 9960, 11835. Checked in various
remotes in AUS and NZL. 73 Lúcio Otávio Bobrowiec, Brasil``

``Greetings, Lúcio, from California. Thanks for monitoring! Yes, at
0910+ UT (April 30) also noticed no SW signal (3945, etc.) from Radio
Vanuatu, via various NZ remotes. Another power outage? Have sent an
email to the station. Ron (Monterey, Calif.)``

``Hello Ron, it happened 29/04 too, check around 0850 in various
remotes in AUS and NZL. Lúcio, Brasil, 73`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 7656.0, April 30 at 0616, open carrier S7/S9 except for
some clix at irregular intervals, maybe about 23 per minute; and clix
audible out to this range: 7643/7666. What is this? Among several
spots doing the same ending in -6. This one also logged March 24, q.v.
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

From now and for an unknowntime, at least for 3 years, I will not use any radio except the remote SDRs forDXing. Recently we moved from the village back to the city in a space thatprohibits the use of desktop DXing, a place flooded by high levels of noise inthe LMHF bands. The radio is now used mostly for FM, for news listening.we runpolitically lively condition with always very interesting twits every day ..

his postal address] and:

``LU1VZ Argentina flag Argentina, Radio Club Bariloche, Cdte. Luis
Piedrabuena 5560, BARILOCHE (8403), RN, Argentina, For more

Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SAUDI ARABIA. 11935, Apr 28 at 1519, still no signal from Rep. of
Yemen Radio; yet Rick Barton, AZ was hearing Arabic Apr 27 at 1430;
sporadic? HFCC shows a res by RAM for something NEW at 1500-1600, 110
degrees, 300 kW from MOLDOVA. RAM = Radio-Agency-M, broker for KCH and
TAC Uzbekistan sites (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SPAIN. 17715, 15520, 15500, 15390, Apr 28 at 2058, REE completely
off the air, due to huge power failure in Iberia, checked into

** TURKEY [and non]. 9875.005+, Sun Apr 27 at 2046, VOT English not

Holder, starts musing about spring, but it`s either rainy or cloudy.
4/23 is some Children`s Day, but dumps off the air at 2054* before she
gets to any mail; and does not return. By 2106 I`m hearing weak
Chinese: that would be VOK in Mandarin from 2100 per EiBi. I`m set to
resume Lbox at 2225 on 11785 but that is also OFF the air again today.
Somethings always erroneous at Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 11785.006+, Apr 28 at 2200, VOT not off the air, better

measured, mostly music S9+30. By 2243 ``always-by-your-side`` promo,
now S9+40. 2253 s/off still pretending it`s the 1230 on 17620.
Something`s always awry at Ankara. 2254 IS to 2255* (Glenn Hauser, OK,

Financial support appreciated for our non-commercial public

Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702.

One may also contribute via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to
woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 9930, Apr 28 at 2224, WTWW is S9+50/60 with TOMBS, also some
modulation audible on parasitic spurs 9917.1 & 9942.9, but no splatter
beyond; same huge signal on 9980 WWCR (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 15770, Apr 28 at 2219, S9+10/20 of dead air, or maybe trace
of mod? WRMI-9 is supposed to be R. Taiwán Internacional on System H (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 7780, Apr 28 at 2333 check, WRMI-13 is still off, like it
was yesterday when WOR might have aired. Xmtr skedgrid shows on air
only at 00-04, which could be currently correct. For months it had
been coming up at 2300 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 1590, Apr 28 at 0634 Mexmx and ID as ``Ambiente Clásico
Radio``, so it`s WCGO Evanston IL, as heard last September 3 at 0707.
It`s not 100% with this slogan, nor even 100% Spanish; and surely my
unID of Apr 22 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** VANUATU. 9960, Apr 28 at 0559, JBA carrier so RV is back on. Ron
Howard replied to my yesterday report of its offness: it seems that
VBTC is notified about outages by him before any one of the 335,169
Vanuatuans!

``Hi Glenn - Here is the reply to my email (received 2144 UT, April
27) and my subsequent log:
