USA brings back Voice of America's Farsi service.

In the wake of the escalating war between Israel and Iran, the US foreign broadcaster Voice of America, which was restricted by US President Donald Trump, has reactivated its Persian-language program. Dozens of employees have been recalled, US media report, citing an internal email to the service's employees.

"Effective immediately, you are being recalled from administrative leave," the Washington Post, for example, quoted from the email. "You are expected to return to work immediately." The decision indicates that Washington wants to expand its coverage of Iran, wrote CNN. This is a "dramatic turnaround for the US government-funded broadcasting system".

In March, Trump had issued a decree ordering massive cuts to the state-funded foreign broadcaster, which reports in several languages. Previously, the station's Persian-language service had produced more than four hours of programs in Farsi every day, CNN reports. It is unclear how much the service had broadcast recently. Current reports were posted on the website of the Farsi service on Saturday.

According to the New York Times, the Persian-language service employs around 100 people, about half of whom have been recalled, the paper wrote, citing an employee. Voice of America was founded in 1942 to represent the values of the USA and democracy abroad.

From now and for an unknowntime, at least for 3 years, I will not use any radio except the remote SDRs forDXing. Recently we moved from the village back to the city in a space thatprohibits the use of desktop DXing, a place flooded by high levels of noise inthe LMHF bands. The radio is now used mostly for FM, for news listening.we runpolitically lively condition with always very interesting twits every day ..
