More Solar Eclipse Projects  View Printable Version
Tuesday, March 05 2024

HCDX

There are additional listening projects in association with the upcoming solar eclipse. One involves the medium wave band if you have access to an SDR Radio; and, the second, as yet nebulous project will involve VLF frequency capability. Google Ham Science if you’re interested. On April 8, 2024 Amateur radio station KA4RXP/MM will be off the coast of Mazatlan, Mexico monitoring the eclipse and would like reports on his signal which will be on 14265 khz SSB. The eclipse should begin at 15:42 UTC and ends at 19:55 UTC. Please include you grid square. KA4RXP’s address is: John Landrigan, 7075 Neshoba Rd., Germantown, TN 38138. Probably providing a set of reports over time would even be more helpful. Bill Smith, Douglas, MA

World Music Radio 25800  View Printable Version
Monday, March 04 2024

HCDX

World Music Radio (WMR) is testing a new 300 Watts transmitter (AM carrier)
on 25800 kHz since February 19 - instead of the old one which was 60 Watts
(AM carrier) only. Unfortunately we are causing some interference to a
local Ethernet set up. So at times modulation has been lowered, and power is
slightly under 300 Watts.

Signals can be heard worldwide. With a bit of luck and patience as well as a
good receiver and a good aerial. Best chances are in Southern Europe,
Northern Africa, Russia, and Eastern North America. But signals have also
been picked up in Western North America, Japan, South America, Australia/NZ,
the Middle East, South Africa, and Japan.

All World Music Radio frequencies: 927, 5930, 15700, and 25800 kHz are on
the air 24/7.

QSL?s available from World Music Radio, PO Box 112, DK-8960 Randers SØ,
Denmark. Please enclose return postage (2 IRCs or 5 euro) if possible. The
printed 2024 QSL card will be available soon (before Summer hopefully).
