Glenn Hauser logs October 26-27, 2025  View Printable Version

Logs
** ALGERIA. 891 kHz, Oct 27 at 0605 UT, het upon WLS. Long time since
I`ve heard this, presumed rather than a Cuban spoiler. No other TA
carriers noted but not a thoro scan, no 531 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 15230, Oct 27 at 1350, RHC with S9 of almost dead air, except
scratchy modulation peaks; also on weaker 13780 with mod and 15140
with its squeal. Also 11760 at 1427, S6/S8 music. Somethings always
wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA [non]. 15380, Oct 27 at 1603, R. Martí on new
Greenville/Grimesland frequency as B25 registered, VG S9 into Ft
Lauderdale SDR. Seems sporadic operation, but better be on every day
now --- and night? --- as Hurricane Melissa is heading toward eastern
Cuba, talking about that. Also on 13820 S9+10, which is the usual
B-frequency instead of A-frequency 13605; and 11930 S6/S8 but not
11860, that replaced by 15380? Not on 15330 either, a new registered
channel. In addition to the usual 9, 7 and 6 MHz frequencies later
into evening, these are available as in HFCC: 15380 16-21, 15330
16-21, 13820 15-22, 11930 14-24, 11860 14-23 UT (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** FRANCE. 21660, Oct 27 at *1500, Issoudun cuts on with music, S8/S9
into Azores SDR; 1502 French lady into marine weather for Mini TransAt
race. VG signal, but JBA pulsetones underneath as if jamming, but
nothing else here to victimize. At 1509 she switches to English: ```Hi,
everybody...`` 1516 mixes languages. In both she`s repeatedly saying
``November`` and ``Whiskey`` to make it absolutely clear that the geo
coordinates cited are North, and West --- where else in this TA
environment?? Into Maryland remote it`s S6/S8; 1537 into music until
chopoff at 1600* sharp (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** MEXICO. 660 kHz, Oct 27 at 0608 UT, Mexican NA, into ID as ``ABC
Deportes, Monterrey``; and at 0612 slogan ``sabemos cómo se juega``,
``La Bamba``. It`s XEFZ, 10/1 kW. Dominant among QRM, not including
KTNN which has been off for over a week - and when on, would be well
heard here only when failing to direxionalize away from NYC (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NORTH AMERICA. 12100 USB, Oct 27 at 1740, pirate music, S4/S6 into
N9AZZ IL remote. Tnx tip in the WOR indian ocean group at 1730: ``Mix
Radio International on 12100 USB --- I've been listening via an SDR in
Wisconsin since about 1650 UTC. This pirate's playing contemporary
electronic music with IDs every few minutes or so. Upon checking, I
can hear this station via SDRs from the East Coast out to Utah right
now. But it's not making it out directly to the Pacific Northwest so
far. Eric Fetters-Walp, Lake Stevens, Washington`` ID finally at 1748.
Still going at 1835, 1857, 1901, 1912, 1958, 2010+ chex. Audio is
quite tinny at least via this remote (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** PHILIPPINES. 11599.98, Oct 27 at 1428, Chinese, at first assumed
CNR1, or rather Sound of Hope since slightly off-frequency - but FEBC
now scheduled from Iba site at 1400-1600, 100 kW at 300 degrees (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 5960, Oct 27 at 2300, VOT is JBA direct with timesignal,
opening English at new B25 time and frequency (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 6125.005+, Oct 27 at 0400, VOT English to NAm, VG into
UTwente, new B25 time and frequency; also 7285.017- S9/+20 for S Asia
off the back. This transmission always swaps 49 and 41 mbs for these
targets from season to season. Now it`s INTRUDING into N American
hamband; why do HFCC & ITU allow this? S/on now claims it`s 1330 on
13635, which is the first and only English broadcast daily, replayed
five times, so by 0400 UT next day, the ``news`` is really OLDs!
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 13635, Oct 27 at 1345, VOT English, S5/S7 direct. Only now
the IDs would be correct when claiming to be on 13635 during all
English repeats. For B25 replaces 17620 at 1230. It`s 250 kW at 310
degrees for W Europe, and incidentally onward USward (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 15350, Oct 27 at 1351, S7/S9 of strumming, 1353 Turkish
announcement, 1355 TRT IS, off by 1400. It`s 0700-1400 at 300 degrees
for W Europe but keeps on going (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U K [non]. 7285, Oct 27 at 0558, BBC S7 in English. Via ASCENSION
this hour 05-06 only; unlike Turkey an hour earlier, this is not
intruding into our hamband as it`s aimed 65 degrees for Africa; and
only half-power 125 kW (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2318 monitoring: confirmed Sunday
October 26 at 2000 on IRRS SW via AM Italia, 1322.996-, S9 into
UTwente, preceded by 7290 s/off announcement - still sked there daily
19-20 in B-25.

Also confirmed Sunday October 26 at 2100 on WRMI 15770.000+, S8/9+10
into UTwente where aimed.

Also confirmed Sunday October 26 at 2300 on WRMI 9395, S9+5/20
direct.

Also confirmed Sunday October 26 at 2330 on WRMI 9455, S9+40 into
Georgia SDR.

Also confirmed UT Monday October 27 at 0030 on WRMI 9455, S9/+10 into
Georgia SDR, fading down considerably from an hour before.

Also confirmed UT Monday October 27 at 0040 the 0030 on WRMI 7780,
S9+5 into S TX SDR.

Also confirmed UT Monday October 27 from 0301 on Area 51 webcast only.
JL ``gotta go`` at 0300 after WBCQ 5130- was already signing off. IDs
from RNYI, 11-L radio at 0259.

Also confirmed Monday October 27 from 1701 on The Global Voice
webcast: https://www.theglobalvoice.info/
Next:

2030 UT Monday SW Radio, Germany 3975 & 6160;
0330 UT Tuesday WRMI 7780 to SW [resumed last week];
1300 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [also web-, phonecast];
1400 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [also web-, phonecast];

2330 UT Wednesday WRMI 9395 to NNW;
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S;

WOR schedules dated Oct 26 have now been partially updated for non-DST
shifts in Europe, not yet for North America:

** U S A. 1470, Oct 27 at 0600 UT, ID mentions 100.3, into Fox `news`.
Only obvious match in NRC AM Log is WMBD Peoria IL, U4 5/5 kW, the
100.3 only a mere translator, W262BY. Night pattern somewhat pulled in
to the SW, but not a notch (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** INTERNATIONAL VACUUM & INTERNET. WRN North
America/Africa/Asia/Pacific stream, Oct 26 at 0356 UT concluding KBS
World Radio hour now starting at 0300 instead of 0200. And Polish
Radio from 0400. The fact that we are stuck with DST for another week
doesn`t matter, and will impact how WRMI handles WRN relays, including
WORLD OF RADIO, everything one UT hour later back to the standard
times they should have stayed at. WRN website skeds still display A25
timings (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** ROMANIA. 9510, Oct 26 at 0132, RRI in Spanish, S9+20/25 with
Victoria Sepciu presenting folk music, nice. With 9700, only

** TURKEY. 11785.004-, Sat Oct 25 at 2250, VOT not off the air in
music, S9/+20 into UTwente. 2254 IS plays. 2256 restart IS with
extraneous German IDs. 2300 timesignal and open German, then pull
plug*. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler. From tomorrow in B25,
English to N America will attempt to be on 5960 an hour later at 23-24
UT, probably worse reception into deep N America until mid-winter. So
extraneous German will then be from 0056 on 5960. In case 5960 be
missing, try 9610 as accidentalternate overrun from previous English
2130-2230 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

new to shortwave radio but recently signed up for the NASWA email list
