Glenn Hauser logs July 11-12, 2025  View Printable Version
Saturday, July 12 2025

Logs
** CUBA [and non]. 1040 kHz, July 11 at 0634, whooper/wobbler audible
under WHO. Had not noticed this for quite some time on any frequency,
last logged here May 5 at 0141 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 6000, July 11 at 0520, RHC S9+30/40 but suptorted; with
dialog and music, sounds like a drama, from a TV audio relay rather
than own programming, as Tony Pavick also suggested at 0400.
Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** EAST TURKISTAN. 17615, July 11 at 0525, music S9/+10 with flutter.
EiBi shows CRI German at 05-07 via Urumqi (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** ITALY. 918 kHz, Fri July 11 at 1904, AM Italia relaying IRRS SW in
FSN, 1905 UN News, 1909 songs, S9+22 into nearby Noale SDR. Also still
on 1323 but much weaker S9+7, and on LW 207 kHz. NEXUS-IBA program
schedule still shows 1323 only (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** KUWAIT [non]. 15540, July 11 at 1843, no signal into UTwente,
preparing to check out an unID reported yesterday after 1900 when
nothing is listed; but RK had HFCC registered 15540 at 1800-2100 in
DRM, and axually once used it for English at 1800. Not in the WOR
Hitlist, but SW sked here is probably outdated/imaginary, not
accounting for 15540 after 1800:
https://media.gov.kw/Frequency.aspx?FreqType=RadioSW
Stephen C Wood in Massachusetts was also hearing it mentioning Iran,
until 1927* July 10.
Or rather today there is no signal audi/visible, but Synch attempts to
lock onto 15540.094- which is a JBA carrier if offtuned in USB. S5/S6
= equivalent to band noise level if compared to 15535 or 15545. Not
even anything on 15540 into Kuwait SDR. Also checking Anchorage AK
SDR, nothing at any of them by 1925 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NORTH AMERICA. 7475, July 11 at 0522, JBA carrier, presumed Station
YHWH in another late emission (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SPAIN. 15500 & 17715 VG direct, also audible on 15520, 15390, Fri
July 11 at 2200, token English from SNR. Preview topic to be tourism
increasing in Spain, a favorite destination. 2201 news leads with
defence spending to increase troop force by 11% by 2035y; helping
Ukraine. 2208 it`s the 30th anniversary of the Institute of Tourism,
with 33 offices abroad (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 11785.004+, Fri July 11 at 2158, VOT not off the air, IS &
ID JBA direct. At 2220 into UTwente when measured, S9+30/45, talk
about tourism; 2233 `The Pulse of Turkish Foreign Policy`. 2239 music.
2243 TRTVOTVorld.com promo. 2244 `Did You Know That?` what? topic not
copied since Efsun is speaking. 2248 music. 2251 Efsun attempts to
convey headlines? Including TurkSat starts beaming internet to Syria.
2253 s/off as if it`s 17620 at 1230. Something`s always awry at
Ankara. 2254 first few notes of IS and chopoff, no finesse.
Something`s always erroneous at Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)`

** U K O G B A N I. 15490, July 11 at 0524, W&M in English, S9/+10
with flutter. Per EiBi it`s BBCWS via Woofferton this hour only (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2303 monitoring: confirmed Friday
July 11 at 1300 on WRMI 15770, its first SWBC, JBA S5/S7 direct, after
an ID.

Also confirmed Friday July 11 at 2030 on IRRS SW via AM Italia,
917.984 at S7 but sounds louder than the S7 on 1323-, JBA into UTwente
across Europe.

Also confirmed Friday July 11 at 2200 on WRMI 9955, JBA direct; at
2219 S9+32 into Georgia SDR.

Also confirmed Friday July 11 at 2230 on SW Gold Radio, Germany,
3975.002, S9+5/10 into UTwente. Next:

necessarily to woradio at yahoo.com

Glenn Hauser, PO Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 5085, July 11 at 0634, WTWW unusually on this late, music at
S9+40/45, stronger than 5920 with TOMBS, S9/+25. Maybe test, of things
to come. I think both were off earlier as usual by 0300 or so. 5085
has no splash or splatter but the JBA spur carriers on 5072.2 and
5097.8; at 0637 Ancient Word Radio ID on 5085. 9930, the daytime
counterpart of 5920, is on at 1447 with TOMBS. But still no 9475,
daytime counterpart of 5085. Something has been preventing frequency
changes on that transmitter (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 5085, UT Sat July 12 at 0140, this WTWW is now on, not
before 0130, but huge hum makes any programming unintelligible, S9+50
direct. 0152 carrier off & on. Hope it`s clear by 0300 so we can hear
World of Radio 2303. Ah, it just cleared up at 0153 (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** U S A. 9330, July 11 at 1445, NO signal from WBCQ/WLCR; what`s
wrong? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and no]. 5130, July 11 at 2349, this WBCQ already on with
open carrier - 84 Hz = 5129.916, S9/+10 into NH SDR, and *2355 IS & ID
loop. At 0000 July 12, disclaimer that following AAAWWW originally
aired on April 4, 2025. Never mind; I reported on it then. Meanwhile I
had checked the others: 7490 - 76 Hz = 7489.924, FKB at S9+5/15; 9330
S8/S9. 3265 off. 6160 also off - or a JBA signal is there: per Aoki &
EiBi that could only be CRI English to S Asia via Kashgar, EAST
TURKISTAN (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 900, July 11 at 0624 UT, ``The Original KHOZ, 94.9, AM 900``
and C&W music. That`s Harrison AR, U1 1000 day/62 watts night. 94.9 a
mere translator, K235CE. Often hear other music at night, trying to ID
as KSGL Wichita, 28 watts at night, and semi-local in daytime. So
what`s become of XEW which used to own 900 with 250 kW? IRCA Log shows
it is the only Mex on 900, 100 kW (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 1160, July 11 at 0529 UT, ad with 847 area code, soon fade
out and KSL remains with 435 area code ad. 847 is suburban Chicago,
i.e. WYLL, U4 50/50 kW; 435 is Salt Lake City area (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** VANUATU. 9960, July 11 at 0517 direct, JBA signal considerably
off-frequency-minus, on the R75, compared to 9955 WRMI and 10000 WWVH.
Unlike R. Vanuatu, evidently receiver birdie or something else, for at
0541 into Townsville SDR, RV quite good, matches WWVH (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 9320, July 11 at 1445, JBA signal. Probably CNR1 jammer
vs Sound of Hope, but KTWR in Korean also scheduled (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 11600, July 11 at 1443, music seems choral/instrumental,
S6/S8, then Chinese? talk. Eibi shows FEBC Manila in Mandarin, but
could also be CNR1 jammer vs Sound of Hope (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

Glenn Hauser logs July 10, 2025; World of Radio 2303  View Printable Version
Friday, July 11 2025

Logs
** BENIN. 1566, which I remarked July 4 when hearing TWR`s other
carrier on 1476, not being on 1566 in mornings, and still shown
1815-2145 only in MWlist, now *has* been reported in mv-eko of Arctic
Radio Club:
``1476 23.5 0317 TWR Africa, Parakou-Serarou, lokal musik (1476.0019)
TN
1566 23.5 0319 TWR Africa, Parakou-Serarou, kom upp under BBC
(1565.9999) TN
Thomas Nilsson, Ängelholm – Perseus SDR, two 12x4 m Flag-antennas,
both reversible``
So 1566 *is* on in the mornings now, repossiblizing NAm DX reception.
23.5 was a Friday, in case significant (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF
RADIO 2303)

** BRAZIL. 11780, July 10 at 0153, RNB/RNA token English, tuned in
late via remote, talking about how RNA MW coverage reaches 1500 km at
night; 0154 long credit list already and into Spanish. A repeat?
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CONGO. 6115, July 10 circa 0500 & 0530, NO signal from R. Congo,
certainly not direct vs my noise level, nor via remotes in S Africa,
Canary, Portugal. We used to JB hear it before Japan would take over
6115, which in summer would be much later. Brazzaville own SR/SS are
0508/1701, and at latitude 4.25 south, vary little during the year. So
if on, need to hear it ASAP in our mornings. Also not even a carrier
at 1806-1808 into UTwente, two RSA and one Kenya SDRs.

Andre in S Africa reported hearing it, with a recording, VP in French
with mentions of Brazzaville. He doesn`t make clear the times, but
recording indicates 1655 & 1707 UT:

``[WOR] Radio Congo back on 6115 kHz -- I heard Radio Congo again
tonight, for the first time in two years. Not sure if they've been
there all along and just wasn't heard widely, or if this is a return.
Here is the video:
https://youtu.be/EHjgsVvu8Tw

Jul 9, 2025 -- In this video, I tune in to Radio Congo (6115  kHz) — a
rare catch I haven't heard in almost two years! This state broadcaster
from Brazzaville is listed as being on air daily, but it's incredibly
difficult to receive from my location in Johannesburg, South Africa,
and I haven't heard it since 2023. Was this a return to shortwave, or
has it been quietly broadcasting all along and I just haven't heard
it? Hard to say — but either way, this is a DXing highlight for me in
2025! The last time I heard it, was in September 2023.

Transmission info (per listed schedules):
Frequency: 6115  kHz
Time: 05:00–19:00 UTC daily
Language: French & local languages
Power: 1  kW (with unconfirmed reports of a 50  kW upgrade since
2022)``

Surely it has been silent; not in current EiBi or Aoki. WRTH 2025 had
sked as 0530-1830. Ron Howard also checked for it: ``On July 10, from
about 0515 to 0615 UT, checked 6115 for Radio Congo reactivation, via
various Africa & Brazil SDR remotes, but no signal anywhere. Guess we
should check about 1700 UT?`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 2303)

** MEXICO. 1140, July 10 at 0601, Mexican NA, choral. Must be XEMR
Monterrey, 20 kW supposedly daytimer; used to have much better signal,
50 kW as still in WRTH. Two other XEs on 1140 believed silent, per
IRCA Mexican Log. Axual location of R. Esperanza is San Nicolás de los
Garza, NL (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA [and non]. Far-right extremist group threatens to take
weather radars offline

** TURKEY. 11785, July 10 at 2245 quick check, VOT English is not off
the air into UTwente (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 2303)

** U S A. Correxion! I originally wrote RHC instead of R. Martí,
fixed:
11930 S5 & 11860 JBA, July 7 at 1450, Spanish from Radio Martí
resuming on this Monday, and shortly also 13605 at S6 in Spanish. No
sign of jamming yet. Three transmitters restored in Grimesland; why
not more VOA at other hours? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2302 monitoring: confirmed UT
Thursday July 10 at 0130 on WRMI 5010, S9+5/20 into Lima SDR.

Also confirmed Thursday July 10 at 1630 on SW Gold Radio, Germany,

** U S A. 12050, July 10 at 1925, JBA signal direct, Spanish? Yes, at
2016, S8/S9 into Florida SDR with preacher, so WEWN, RCM is now on the
air altho I could not detect it previously on July 9 (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** U S A. 1280, July 10 at 0559 UT, Black Information Network; surely
WODT New Orleans LA, U3 5000/5000, only one on 1280 in NRC AM Log; and
the usual 1280 dominant here, originally WDSU until 1972 (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 1420, July 10 at 0600 UT, ``1420 and 106.3, Hot Springs`
first ---`` ID in English after Mexmx. I thought two different
stations, but NRC AM Log shows KBHS is in Spanish, 5000/87 watts at
night, with 106.3 of course a mere translator, K292HG, ``La
Caliente``. But the town is not yet renamed Aguascalientes? (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 810.54, July 10 at 0606 UT, still getting that mystery
JBA carrier slightly variable, hetting 810.00 WHB. Still not in
mwoffsets, where most info concerns splitting hairs/Hz much closer to
nominals (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
