Glenn Hauser logs August 26-27, 2025  View Printable Version
Thursday, August 28 2025

Logs
** BRAZIL. 9664.97, Aug 27 at 0622, R Voz Missionária, S9/+5 music,
carrier mushy instead of sharp. Also sounded that way last night
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** BRAZIL. 11780, Aug 26 at 2157, RNB/RNA gone again, no signal
direct. Aug 27 at 2159 it`s on but weaker than usual S9+10/20 and
tough copy (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** BRAZIL. 28270+, Aug 27 at 2209, JBA beacon, dash and VVV PY4MAB,
barely copied in multiple repeats, as in WGB list: ``28270.5 PY4MAB -
Poços de Caldas MG BRA GG68re - #0/1/3 (07 Aug 2025) Note: VVV ID +
grid + BCN + 5" carr - Cobra 142 gtl mod. ant vert 10w`` QRZ.com, with
a huge photo gallery: ``PY4MAB Brazil flag Brazil, MAURICIO BERALDO,
LUIZ ZANGIACOMI 145, POCOS DE CALDAS MG ZIP CODE 37704-274, MG, Brazil
--- I have a Radio Beacon on the frequency of 28.270.4 CW, 24 hours a
day, vertical antenna, 10 watts of power. In 2025 it will be 15 years
since Beacon is on the air. Whoever receives the signals and sends me
a confirmation by letter I will respond to everyone and send a special
QSL card from my city`` Logged a few times before such as April 21
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** COLOMBIA. 28465 USB, Aug 27 at 2218, Cartagena station making quick
contacts in English, says this the last one for now, 10 watts. Only
hit at DXheat/cluster: ``HJ4EAB 28 465,0 HJ4V Portable QRP 22:01
27/08/25`` But HJ4EAB is not in Cartagena per QRZ.com: ``HJ4EAB
Colombia flag Colombia, EDUARD DARIO OLARTE VASQUEZ, MEDELLÍN,
Colombia`` - so how about HJ4V? Yes! HJ4V Colombia flag Colombia,
EDUARD DARIO OLARTE VASQUEZ, Medellín 056432, Colombia - During my
vacation (August 26–30 2025), I will be operating as HJ4V from the
beach in Cartagena Colombia, on the 10m and 40m bands SSB`` (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA [and non]. 1141 kHz, Aug 27 at 0403, JBA carrier hetting 1140
Spanish, presumably Cuba vs XEMR on N/S antenna, while on E/W antenna
English, WRVA? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 13780, Aug 26 at 2205, RHC Spanish S9/+10 with good mod; JBA
carrier on 15230, trace? of mod? Not on 11760, just China JBA direct
with flutter (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 15230, Aug 27 at 1457, RHC S7/S8 but suptorted, unreadable.
Clear but weaker on 13780 JBA S6/S7. And not on 11760 (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 15230, Aug 27 at 2213, RHC suptorted, unreadable not on 13780
or 11760. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** MEXICO [and non]. Re: "UNIDENTIFIED. 630.1 kHz, Aug 26 at 0703 UT,
JBA carrier hetting 630.0 gospel huxter, KYFI St. Louis MO (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)"

``I had this on several of my Border Inn DXpedition recordings last
October, and could only determine that it was a Mexican station
(because they played the anthem around 1200 UT). This morning I
finally found it again on the Brownsville TX SDR, after several
previous failed attempts. It's XEFB Monterrey NL, on about 630.090
kHz, just as in my October 2024 recordings.

They ran a children's choral version of the anthem (1 verse), and one
quick "Acústika" liner, then returned to music. They were NOT
//XEJP-1150, which was also audible on this SDR at the same time.
XEFB's anthem was almost two minutes behind XEJP's (XEJP's finished
right about 1200 UT, and XEFB's started slightly after 1200 UT). After
XEJP's anthem, they went into the Acústik program "Agronegocios"
("Farm Business?" Seems an odd programming choice for morning drive
time in Mexico City). We already knew that both XEFB-630 and
XEUNO-1120 (which may currently be silent) were running music instead
of the actual Acústik network programming, but it's interesting to
learn that they (well, at least XEFB) still bother to refer to
themselves as "Acústika."

(It never fails - as soon as we publish the IRCA Mexican Log,
something newsworthy happens a day or two later that I wish I could
have included in the Log)... On the subject of off-frequency stations
on 630, is KHOW also still running high, around 630.019, as they were
in all of my October 2024 recordings? 73 Tim Hall``

``Hey Tim! The bane of all list keepers! The day it goes to press is
the day it’s out of date! 73 Wayne Heinen N0POH, Editor, NRC AM Radio
Log, Aurora, CO``

XEFB is better? known as call of the once widely DXed TV channel 3/2
in Monterrey (via Glenn Hauser, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. 1680, Aug 27 circa 1930 UT, Virtual DJ Radio still
running pop music and audible for only a few blox around crossroads of
US 81 & US 412 in Enid; self-promotion calls itself a ``radio
station``, but no specific ID recaught. Has anyone else, anywhere ever
heard VDJR on a real radio transmitter, AM or FM? (Glenn Hauser, Enid,
WOR)

** ROMANIA. 9740, Aug 26 at 2209, RRI English at S9/+10; reception
improving but still insuff intended for W Europe only (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** SPAIN. 15500 & 15520, Aug 26 at 2159, no signals direct from REE,
but audible on 15390 and S9+20/30 on 17715, 2200 accurate timesignal
and Emisión Sefarad, still on Tuesdays, but what happens next
week/month? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SPAIN. 17715 S9+20/30 & VP 15390, Wed Aug 27 at 2200, REE on these
but not on 15500 or 15520, timesignal and Spanish, `Españoles en el
Exterior`, something about arroz = rice. As expected, no English when
it used to air. One week from today, English will supposedly resume at
inconvenient hour of 1000 UT on frequency unknown (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** TURKEY. 11785.010-, Aug 26 at 2157, no signal direct from VOT; but
on by next check 2206, in English; and at 2241 into UTwente when
measured, music at S9+35/45; 2246 ``always-by-your-side`` promo (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 13635, Aug 27 at 0630, Turkish music, SSOB S7/S9, now the
SSOB, scheduled 06-13 250 kW 310 degrees to WEu and thisaway, VOT
Turkish. Always audible but improving now, Followed by 17815 same
parameters at 13-16, heard about 1503 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 11785.004-, Aug 27 at 2158, VOT not off the air, S9/+10 IS
and IDs in English. At 2229 into UTwente when measured, S9+40/50,
``always-by-your-side`` promo, music. 2238 ``ABYS` again, music. 2243
TRTVOTVorld.com promo, music. 2251 multi-lingual ID filler reel. 2254
s/off as if 17620 at 1230. Something`s always awry at Ankara. 2254.5
IS to 2255.4* (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2309 monitoring: confirmed Tuesday
August 26 at 2000 on IRRS SW via AM Italia, 1332.994, S9+5 into
UTwente across Europe.

Also confirmed Tuesday August 26 at 2330 on SW Gold Radio, Germany,
3975.002+, S9+10/20 into UTwente.

Also confirmed UT Wednesday August 27 at 0030 on WRMI 9395, S9+15/20
into Knoxville SDR; following Blues Radio International, and
``Okeechobee Ocean`` ID - I`ve been craving to hear that entire song,
and here it is:
https://youtu.be/8uhB9Buxifg
https://www.lyricsvault.net/php/artist.php?s=181180

Also confirmed Wednesday August 27 at 1931 on SW Gold Radio, Germany,
6160.000+, S9+10/20, by recording and presumably also on 3974.999+,
which was S9/+15 by 2005, both into UTwente.

Also confirmed Wednesday August 27 at 2100 on WBCQ, 7490 -70 Hz =
7489.930, S9/+15 following TOMBS chopped off at 2100 for ID, then
WOR.

Also confirmed Wednesday August 27 at 2330 on WRMI, 9395, S9+10/20
into Knoxville SDR. Next:

0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S;
1630 UT Thursday SW Radio, Germany 6160.

Thanks this week for financial support from Peter Robinson, UK, for a
very generous contribution not originally in US funds via PayPal to
woradio at yahoo.com

One may also contribute via money order or check on a US bank to:
Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 9905/9955, Aug 27 at 2212, approx. range of modsqueals out
of screaming TOMBS on 9930 WTWW where he`s S9+40/50. Similar situation
around blasting 9350 WWCR (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 9330, Aug 26 at 2207, NO signal from WBCQ WLCR; what`s
wrong? Even when on to Brasil, no comparison at this angle, to much
weaker-rated WWCR transmitter blasting in S9+40/50 on 9350; WINB 9265
even S8/S9 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 660, Aug 27 at 0400, KTNN ID at ToH plus two others,
Tohatchi, which must be KTNN-FM 101.5, and KKNS Corrales, which is
1310 in Albuquerque suburb. Not a bigsig, but anysig at night implies
not protecting WFAN (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 252 MCW kHz, Aug 27 at 0357 UT, LW beaconscan hits only
one unusual, 252 kHz; trouble is, dxinfocentre.com shows only two
possibilities, in SC and NS; and RNA list shows none anywhere. Now
wondering if I were really tuned to 251 AM but I think not (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. Trans-Atlantic MWDX conditions are starting to improve.
JBA carrier search Aug 27 at 0348-0356 UT, first 9/kHz steps on USB,
tuning downward one kHz below channels: 1053, 909, 711. Then tuning up
in LSB on 9/kHz steps one kHz above channels: 585?, 684, 711, 855,
882, 999, 1044, 1053, 1089, 1305? Most of those are typical of Spain
or UK, except 711 could be Cuba or `Morocco`. No sign of Benin on 1476
or 1566. Better results on my indoor N/S shortwire than on the E/W
loop (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 1290, Aug 27 at 0404, Spanish YL preaching, seems
Catholic, on E/W loop but not on N/S wire. By format SS:REL the only
fit in NRC AM Log is KRGE Weslaco TX, Radio Vida, U2 5/5 kW, but in
wrong direxion! R. Vida appears ``evangelical`` rather than anything
Catholic on website (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 1360.29 approx., Aug 27 at 0405 UT, JBA carrier hetting
1360, like previously on 1360.28 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 9478.9 LSB, Aug 27 at 0629, intermittent 2-way JBA in
unknown language (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

Glenn Hauser logs August 25-26, 2025  View Printable Version
Tuesday, August 26 2025

Logs
** BRAZIL. 11780, Aug 25 at 2158, no signal direct from RNA/RNB (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CANADA. 28153 CW, re my log of beacon VE3IDS/B: ``Hi Glenn, Thanks
very much for the report. Yes ten metres has been pretty quiet this
summer. I appreciate the reports to know that there are people
searching for beacons. RBN is handy but a report from a human is
better! I will be happy to snail mail you a QSL card. I have some mail
to go to the post office on Monday. 73 Don ve3ids`` (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** CHINA [and non]. 11760, Aug 25 at 2210, JBA signal, presumably CRI
Portuguese via Xianyang site, rather than Cubacarrier as in Aug 23
report. About which this reply:

``Hello Glenn, I suspect you had a Cuban carrier with CRI Xian
underneath at 2200+ Z yesterday {Aug 23}. The carrier continued
throughout the evening yesterday, gone before 0400 sometime {UT Aug
24}. The carrier was back on this afternoon {Aug 25} at 2025 Z check,
excellent level, then came to life with excellent quality Radio
Rebelde audio at 2103Z, until abrupt plug pull at 2138*. 11760 audio
was synchro with a very weak 5025 signal, which suggests that a second
"RHC" tx at the Bauta site is now back in operation. 13780 RHC SPA was
also on during the 2100+ period, very weak here. CRI came up on 11760
for the usual 2200 POR fill music program at good level with flutter,
// 9685. And previously, I've never heard any Cuban CRI relays except
through Quivicán, FWIW... 73. -- David E. Crawford, Indian River City,
Florida Libre`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) see also CUBA below

** CUBA [and non]. 750, Aug 26 at 0704, whooper audible under WSB; not
often, and right now not heard on 870, 1040 or anywhere else. Only
Cuban listed in WRTH is R. Progreso, 10 kW, in Palmira, Cienfuegos
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 15230, Aug 25 at 2203, RHC S7/S9 but suptorted unreadable;
also S9+30 and clear on 13780 in Spanish, seems not // until I compare
music breaks vs talk, showing they are a few sex out of sync.
Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 11760, Aug 26 at 0633, Spanish S9+30, as RHC
frequencies/transmitters are being revived, but at this hour? Suspect
it`s R. Rebelde programming and does seem // MW 1620 under QRM, can`t
tell about 5025 which remains a JBA carrier. Then at 0634, R. Rebelde
ID, and also an old yelled ID presumably dating from its early
clandestine era (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 11760 & 15230, Aug 26 at 1508, JBA carriers presumably RHC,
no signal on 13780. And another update from David Crawford, FL:

``11760 was noted this morning, 26 AUG, 1310 Z open carrier, 1320 very
faint audio, then up to readable but low modulation by 1325, carrying
RHC SPA. 1406 the audio was dialed back down, still open carrier at
1530 recheck, then was gone at 1758 recheck. Excellent signal level
and audio quality.

The interesting thing: The 11760 RHC audio was exactly synchro with
the known old Quivicán tx on 6000 up to its sign-off at 1400. 13780
had the typical Bauta ~0.7 sec audio delay behind Quiv. Also, as
previously reported, the 11760 Rebelde relay the evening prior was
synchronized with the "weak 5025" Rebelde tx.

Two conclusions: 11760 appears to be a new or very-well-repaired
transmitter at Quivicán, not the historical Bauta 11760. And the low
power 5025 Rebelde tx is likewise located at Quivicán.`` (Glenn

** SPAIN. 17715 S9+20 and much weaker 15390, Mon Aug 25 at 2159, these
REEs are on while 15500 & 15520 are OFF; still no English at 2200,
rather Spanish about Cambuya = Cambodia, what else? Some dispute about
whether to spell it Camboya in Spanish. Something`s nonsensical at
Noblejas, messedup in Madrid (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY [non]. 11785+, Aug 25 at 2158, no signal direct from VOT.
Something`s always erroneous at Emirler; nor at 2240 into UTwente,
when also checked accidentalternate 9875: not there either, only weak
off-frequency-minus signal, no doubt Korea North (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** U S A. Office of Cuba Broadcasting saving Greenville station: From
usually reliable sources: "Staff is being called back to Greenville,
and reportedly will be put back into normal operation. Greenville is
OCB owned now, allegedly because management thought OCB would have its
budget cut and have to turn it off and Washington management would not
be held responsible." (via Glenn Hauser, WOR)

** U S A. 7570, Aug 26 at 0642, this WRMI is on again and as usual
much stronger here to the NW than 7730 & 7780 to the NE & SW (Glenn

** U S A. 1270, this may have a bearing on my log of KNWC Aug 20 at

UNIDENTIFIED. 630.1 kHz, Aug 26 at 0703 UT, JBA carrier hetting 630.0
gospel huxter, KYFI St. Louis MO (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. Re carrier I had on 1360.28, Martin Foltz replies: ``I
hear a big jet [het] on 1360 here in Sarasota FL. Martin`` - Well, no
Cubans are listed on 1360; one each in Costa Rica, Guatemala, Mexico.
However, excellent new free IRCA Mexican Log shows three CPs on 1360:

UNIDENTIFIED. 9236.0, Aug 26 at 0635 open carrier with JBA clix
roughly once per second, and detectable out to 9220/9246. What is
this? Another report:

``3-Second "Click" Signal --- Hi Glenn, I just wanted to tell you that
last night I listened for the mystery "clicker" on the 31 meter band.
Sure enough, there he was. His signal was quite wide. Far too wide. I
was hearing him across a span of greater than 400 KHz. I did notice
that the period of the signal varied a bit. Only slightly, but
perceivable. Probably not any kind of radar. Take care, my friend. I
am a faithful listener to your podcasts. John Lutz, N9JL, EN51vm``
Shorewood IL, Aug 24

``John, Good. Did you note the frequency range, top to bottom, or a
`center` frequency of open carrier like I have been getting? Glenn``

``I started listening at 9936 kHz, and (randomly) decided to tune
lower in the band. I was still hearing it at 9350 KHz. At 9300 KHz it
was no longer audible. Thinking about it, the signal spanned over 600
KHz. Maybe a lot more. I didn't attempt to find the dropout point on
the high side, but it was definitely audible above 9,936 KHz. I
suppose it could be a radar set. It seems that 30-31 meters is
becoming a popular place for OTH radars.  😟

I listened for The Clicker again tonight {UT Aug 25}. No joy. But band
conditions seemed considerably better than last night.`` (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)
