in absence of KFTI Wichita? But then I hear an understation mentioning
Los Angeles; only other CBS affiliate on 1070 in NRC AM Log is WINA
Charlottesville VA, U2 5/5 kW, unlikely. Meanwhile 101.3, KFTI on FM
is in C&W music. In daytime 1810 UT Feb 11, Wichita SDR gets no signal

0235-0925 or so. Pichincha is Quito`s province, and if you hunt for it
on page 215, WRTH 2026 shows HCJB on 89.3; long gone from MW 690

His full report below. I replied:

``Ron, Here`s the answer from WRTH 2026 page 735: on 9690, Pan
American Broadcasting [ex-Eq Guinea], 500 kW via Issoudun, France,
2000-2015 Sat & Sun, 2030-2100 Sun, to Pacific [as also in HFCC].
Well, almost, not showing Monday. Also p 634 under USA. No mention of
Alamo. You might want to complain to PAB HQ. [in nearby Pleasanton
CA]. I tuned in 9690 just in time at 2058 Tue Feb 10 via Qatar remote,
to hear some gospel music atop Spain until 2059*. Glenn``

``Hi Glenn - Today while checking for the Indonesian pirate on 9690
kHz. (not heard), I was shocked to hear the distinctive voice of Tony
Alamo, via Kiwi SDR remote at Bogor, Indonesia. We both know of his
infamous background. I find it very hard to believe his old recordings
are still being broadcast on SW.

PHILIPPINES[tentative site?], 9690, What station is this? 2020-2058*
UT, Feb 9. Yes, a Tony Alamo recording of program #754. He of course
died in prison (2017), while serving a 175 year conviction for
multiple sex crimes.

May 2017 - "There were lots of items about Alámo in DXLD circa
2008-2011. At his peak he was on, at least, WWCR, WINB and Radio
Africa, Equatorial Guinea. What were they thinking?? (Glenn Hauser, DX

Here is a posting I made some years ago that might be of interest to
those that missed it: "Certainly Tony Alamo's life was stranger than
fiction. Years ago, I was amazed to learn about the denim jackets his
followers made and he sold to celebrities. The following story sheds
light upon what was really happening:

Here is part of the story:"

"The jackets were assembled in a factory in Alma, AR that was
converted from a large restaurant. First the raw denim was washed in a
drum filled with pumice stones and bleach, then it was cut and sewn
into shape. From there, a basic stencil — a skyline or the outline of
a cartoon character — was applied using a silk screen and then the
delicate work of airbrushing and embellishing could begin. Children
manned the rhinestone station. Using their small fingers, they dropped
row after row of Swarovski stones into tiny fittings.

The working conditions were harsh. Bleach fumes billowed from the
stone washing drum. Every day, up to 150 people — men, women, and
children — worked for as long as 14 hours a day. Sometimes the
children's fingers bled from handling the pointy rhinestones. The
finished product was a genuine Tony Alamo of Nashville jacket. The
workers who made them
labored for free in the service of a cult leader named Tony Alamo who
preached that only he could show them the path to heaven.

The jackets were a hot fashion commodity in the eighties. Flashy and
expensive, they were a favorite among celebrities. Dolly Parton, Mike
Tyson, Brooke Shields, Burt Reynolds — anybody who was anybody wanted
to be photographed in one. Michael Jackson wore a customized leather
version on the cover of the Bad album. . . .

Today [2018], the jackets, with their boxy fit, stonewash finish,
elaborate airbrushed designs, and sparkling Swarovski crystals are
having another moment in fashion. Tastemakers like Nicki Minaj, ASAP
Rocky, Miley Cyrus, and Frances Bean Cobain have all recently been
photographed wearing the highly sought-after vintage Tony Alamo of
