** ALGERIA. 891, Feb 28 at 0542 UT, JBA carrier hetting 890 WLS - in a complete 9/kHz bandscan, the only hit, hope it`s the 300/100 kW near Algiers, R. Algérie Int`l which is still on 24h per mwlist - unless it`s a Cuban spoiler. Still detectable at 0609 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** ARGENTINA [non]. 9455, Fri Feb 27 at 2300, WRMI relay S9+30/40 direct of RAE with multi-lingual ID reel and otherwise nothing but very nice music, especially tango, past 2316 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** BRAZIL. 28270+ CW, Feb 27 at 2308, dash and VVV PY4MAB --- WGB list: ``28270.5 PY4MAB - Pocos de Caldas MG BRA GG68re - #0/1/3 (21 Feb 2026) Note: VVV ID + grid + BCN + 5" carr - Cobra 142 gtl mod. ant vert 10W`` -- It`s Poços de Caldas, not Pocos, totally different words! (7490), Feb 28 at 0100 on WBCQ webcast, `AAAWWW` opens with ``before AI takes over the world ---``, so a repeat of last week Feb 21, which was a repeat of Feb 14 - and no other frequencies running, checked into Vermont SDR. Never mind. AW still hasn`t replied to my inquiry about 9330 heard back on (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 9330, Feb 27 at 2257, still no signal from WBCQ/WLCR, but I am quite sure that is what I heard in usual sidewise Portuguese Feb 25 at 2322, never since. However, something else showed up, pirate WDOG: ``This one's usually in the 6.9 MHz band, but he's broadcasting up at 9330 USB with classic rock and R&B songs so far. I'm getting good reception from the SDR in Fair Hill, Maryland. You'll sometimes hear dogs barking and howling during the music, which is WDOG's usual practice. Eric Fetters-Walp, Lake Stevens, Washington USA, My QSL website:`` https://treehouseswl.mystrikingly.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 7505, Feb 28 at 0557, WRNO ID in `Country Roads`, contact info in Ft Worth, S9+10/20 but not solid like it usually is; then into preaching. Bit of C&W music I heard at first may also be religious (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. From FCC license of KAAY 1090 Little Rock, power up/down times: Average Hours of Sunrise and Sunset Local Standard Time (Non-Advanced) = CST = UT -6 Month Sunrise Sunset January 7:15 17:15 February 7:00 17:45 March 6:15 18:15 = UT 1215 0015 April 5:45 18:45 May 5:00 19:00 June 5:00 19:30 July 5:00 19:30 August 5:30 19:00 September 5:45 18:15 October 6:15 17:30 November 6:45 17:00 December 7:15 17:00 We have been trying to confirm audibly and meterly major switches between 50 and 3.4 kW at mandated SR/SS times (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 869.617, Feb 28 at 0612 UT, JBA carrier hetting 870. Believe I had one around here also recently (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 9996 AM, Feb 28 at 0605, carrier here maybe RWM, but no timesignals at this minute, altho some clix bleeding from 10000 WWV (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 27225 USB, Feb 27 at 2304, pro-Trump sounds like a broadcast, probably AI/robovoice reading an article, on a CB channel. Atop the QRM; with skip in, many other channels are a horrible mess of hets, stupid talkers, and also freebanders above the official CBand up at least to 27.5 MHz (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 1632 UT February 28 _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/

** CUBA. 9710, Feb 27 at 0807, S8/S9 of dead air no doubt RHC again failed to turn off much earlier, total waste, SAWA (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** OKLAHOMA [and non]. 338 MCW kHz, Feb 27 at 0727 UT, RYN Tucson `Ryan` mixing with TU, TULSA NDBs; tuned to 336.6 USB. RYN is a lot further but a lot wattier than TU (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. 740 kHz, Feb 27 at 1253 UT during bandscan happen to hit KRMG Tulsa with advisory that viewers of Fox 23 by antenna will need to rescan by March 7. That`s KOKI; means that it`s changing RF channels, from what to what? Rabbitears.info shows it`s on physical = RF channel 22, and will continue but `soon` callsign KOKI-TV will be carrying the ROAR network; no mention of Fox as network/affiliation! Maybe it`s about a slight change in transmitter sites SE of Tulsa. Ah, here`s the scoop: https://www.fox23.com/news/fox23-tulsa-moving-to-ktul-8-2-in-february/article_3c59dfb2-6623-43e6-9bf0-94be9695dcd6.html ``FOX23 Tulsa Moving to KTUL 8.2 in February FOX23.com News Staff Feb 6, 2026 FOX programming in Tulsa is getting a new channel location. Sinclair has acquired the FOX affiliation previously carried on KOKI FOX23 as part of a transaction with Rincon Broadcasting. Beginning February 9, 2026, all FOX programming, including FOX network shows and FOX23 News, will move from KOKI 23.1 to KTUL 8.2. Simulcast Period Planned -- To give viewers time to adjust, FOX programming will air on both KOKI 23.1 and KTUL 8.2 for three weeks. The simulcast will run through March 1. Starting March 2, KTUL 8.2 will become the permanent home of FOX23 in Tulsa. What Viewers Need to Know Viewers who watch FOX using an over-the-air antenna will need to rescan their televisions to receive the new channel. Sinclair is working with cable and streaming providers, including Cox, DISH, DirecTV, Optimum, YouTube TV and Hulu to minimize any disruption. These changes will not affect ABC programming.`` Here`s what really happening, already in rabbitears.info: KTUL is identical on two different physical channels, 14 and 24, but both displaying as 8, with 8-1 ABC, 8-2 FOX, 8-3 Antenna TV, 8-4 Rewind TV. 8-1 nickname NewsChannel 8 and 8-2 nickname Fox 23 Tulsa. So the KOKI call letters are being deleted?, or not: KOKI-TV is still in rabbitears on display 23, physical 22, but with 6 other non-Fox networks: ROAR, Me-TV, Dabl, Charge!, Comet TV, The Nest. And Doug Smith, Nashville also replies: ``The KTUL on physical 24 is a Digital Replacement Translator in McAlester (there is no engineering difference between a "Digital Replacement Translator" and a plain old translator. The difference is purely legal.) If similar Sinclair actions in other markets (like Nashville and Dayton) are any indication, KOKI 23 is not going away. It will remain 23.x with ROAR on 23.1`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 382 MCW kHz, Feb 27 at 0732, MW, 25 watt NDB at `Jonny` Marion IL. Tuned to 380 USB; first time heard (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 397 MCW kHz, Feb 27 at 0735, JE, NDB `Algoa` at JEfferson City MO; tuned to 395 USB where it`s louder than CA, 25 watt `Harvs` at Newton KS, which is really on 395 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. ** CANADA. 15034 USB, Feb 26 at 1544, CHR Trenton Military finally heard again after missing several days at random chex; flight weather for Halifax, good S8 direct (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 2336)
** CUBA. 11760, Feb 26 at 0732, S9+15/55 of dead air from RHC not turned off hours ago. 15140, Feb 26 at 0733, JBA carrier. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 15140, Feb 26 at 1545, RHC S7/S9 music JBM with windhowl; 15230 S7/8 JBM music without howl; also 11760 at 1548, good mod and clear S7/S9. SAWA (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. Terry Krueger comments on the WOR iog: ``11880 CUBA RHC 2000 22 FEB 2026 - The best time to catch RHC in English here in NW Florida, 2000-2100. Always local level and the one transmitter which works almost flawlessly compared to the others. The same transmitter is used for Spanish on 11760 at equal excellent level until highly variable 1600-ish switch to 11880. Or sometimes, they don't bother to switch and stay on 11760. Or sometimes, they never bother to come up on 11880, like this day. Maybe Millennial Miguel (who never got to learn "responsibility" from Arnaldo de Jesús Coro Antích) is on coffee breaks when this happens?`` (VIA Glenn Hauser, WORLD OF RADIO 2336) ** NORTH AMERICA. 9025, I have not caught the `presidential pirate` again, but Terry L Krueger certainly has. Following is solely from him, and must be credited as such: ``Boggy, Florida Occidental, IC-R75, NRD-535, ICF-7600GR, ICF-7600D, Tescun PL-360, active loop, random fence-stapled wire, misc. junk. 9025 NORTH AMERICA (MUTANT) 'Presidential Pirate' 1546 19 FEB 2026 (Thursday) The usual presidential speeches audio snips at tune in, again noted up at 1608. Very poor today. And 1608+ 20 FEB (Friday) at fair level. But again, no trace of this on 21 FEB (Saturday) or 22 FEB (Sunday), building on my theory that if not active weekends and federal holidays, the source is a defense contractor testing a new transmitter on this USAF HF channel. And there it is, back on 23 FEB 1428 check (Monday). Didn't get a chance to much monitor on 24 FEB (Tuesday), but up at 1718 25 FEB (Wednesday), on/off as usual. Same 26 FEB, 1429 (Thursday) up briefly as well as other times after. What I never noticed is that de-tuning to 9024.80 USB has the carrier seemingly constantly on`` (VIA Glenn Hauser, WORLD OF RADIO 2336) ** OKLAHOMA. 1680, Feb 26 at 1535 UT, JBA carrier wobbling at the rate of about 5X per second, into home rig. Thanks this week to David Costa, Jacksonville FL, for a contribution via PayPal in US funds but not necessarily, to: woradio at yahoo.com@groups.io and says, ``Thank you for so many years of information for short wave listeners`` One may also contribute via MO or check on a US bank to: Glenn Hauser, PO Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 5085, WTWW has received replacement parts, George McClintock tells me, and expects to be back on air by Saturday Feb 28, not not in time for the original WOR scheduled time of UT Sat 0400; possibly will run it UT Sun or Mon at 0400? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 9330, Feb 26 at 0729, WBCQ is off again, and also at 1539. So I asked Allan Weiner: ``Yesterday Feb 25 at 2322 UT = 6:22 pm EST, I was hearing Portuguese on 9330, S9+20/30 on my generous meter, but as before, ``non-solid`` signal off the side of your 170 beam toward Brasil. But later in evening and since then, no signal on 9330. Can you confirm this was WBCQ? I assumed it was, but also occurred to me that WLC might have got some time on some other transmitter but on the old frequency. So what is the outlook for full WLC service on your 9330 resuming? Tnx, Glenn`` - 24 hours later, 9330 is not back on again, 2333 check Feb 26 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 2336) ** U S A. 7505, Feb 26 at 0738, gospel huxter in English, S9+20/40 direct, another unpredictable WRNO extension (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 15555 USB, Wolfgang Bueschel replies to my inquiry whether anyone has been hearing WJHR, with what may be his latest? log: ``USA 15555 USB single sideband audio encoded, WJHR Milton FL, sermon on homo sexuality theme, En screamer male sound, media block 15554.4 to 15558.2 kHz, on upper flank. S=9 at 15.23 UT, Oct 15, 2025 (wb df5sx, via wwdxc BC-DX TopNews Oct 21, 2025)`` (via Glenn Hauser, WOR) ** U S A. (1070), Feb 26 at 0600 UT, I`m monitoring the KHMO Hannibal MO stream, khmoradio.com/listen-live/popup/ to determine whether the `Scott Jennings Show` playback I had been hearing before 0800 was from KHMO or something else. 0601 CBS news, 0607.5 Alex Marlow show starts; but at 0707.5, yes, `Scott Jennings` claiming to be live following SOTU. Yet the defunct Charlie Kirk still appears on the KHMO program websked (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 91.5, Feb 26 at 1604 UT, as I am bandscanning for Es FM DX from Florida/Cuba, KSNS Medicine Lodge KS signal is enhanced enough to make it clear that its music is in mono, not $ tereo; it`s on the Smile FM network from all over Michigan. WTFDA FM DB does not specify mode as mono. IIRC I have sometimes found the $ tereo pilot on (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 9100 CW, Feb 26 at 1537, beeps every 7.5 seconds, i.e. carrier on & off, steady rate of 8X per minute. What`s this? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 87.75 MHz, Feb 26 at 1602 UT, something in Spanish into caradio tuned to 87.7 and also 87.9 but less audible. A trace of music at 1609. I hastened to car after seeing on DXMAP sporadic E FM DX being reported up to 99 MHz from OK to Lakeland FL, including 91.7 KOSU. Quick bandscans of bottom half of FM dial do not find anything other unusual, and tropo from KS is somewhat enhanced. WTFDA FM database shows on 87.7 only one FrankenFM in Spanish, and it`s Florida: ``WEYS-LD 87.7 MIAMI FL SPANISH RELIGIOUS ALMAVISION 6035 3.0 kW H&V 232.0 m 25-58-15 80-12-32 Spanish 3D44 WEYS87.7 Almavision radio -Comprometidos con la verdad Religious Talk`` By 1730, DX opening to Lakeland has moved further south from Texas, then outpeters below FM band. Or could it be Cuba? Did not hear enough to determine whether Christian or Commie, but WRTH 2026 page 771 implies that Cubavisión is still on analogue 6 in Habana with 129 kW. If I enter Enid and Habana on distancefromto.net, it shows 13395.69 km to an Habana on the Queensland coast! No, not that one! ``Habana is a coastal rural locality in the Mackay Region, Queensland, Australia. In the 2021 census, Habana had a population of 1,022 people`` --- Specifying OK and Cuba: 2095.3 km = 1301.96 statute miles, so quite possible in single-hop Es range (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 2336) This report dispatched at 0154 UT February 27 _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/
