From now and for an unknowntime, at least for 3 years, I will not use any radio except the remote SDRs forDXing. Recently we moved from the village back to the city in a space thatprohibits the use of desktop DXing, a place flooded by high levels of noise inthe LMHF bands. The radio is now used mostly for FM, for news listening.we runpolitically lively condition with always very interesting twits every day ..

Logs
** SPAIN. Re token English from SNR to become even more token, here is
exactly what Marilyn Quintana says at 2205 UT Aug 6 on 17715, 15520,
15390; 15500 for N America still off:

``As of Monday the first of September, a new season begins for the
English language broadcast of Radio Exterior, bringing with it a few
changes. From that date, we will broadcast only once a week on
Wednesdays at 10 AM UTC. We remind listeners that you can listen to
our programs any time of the day on the internet, mobile device app,
and digital terrestrial television and by satellite. For more
information you can visit our website at
http://www.rtve.es ;
then clicking on the top radio, and then Radio Exterior. You can also
get in touch with us via email at the address english@rtve.es``

She definitely said 10 AM, a time when SW is not currently on air;
Stephen Luce and I wonder if possibly meant to be 10 PM, the current
time of 2200 UT (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 2307)

** U S A [and non]. A few more beacons are becoming audible, August 7
at 0626+ UT:
379 kHz, RU, Russellville AR, defective sending instead of RUE
382 kHz, JBA carrier, probably YPL, Pickle Lake ON, heard before
385 kHz, JBA carrier, probably HO, HOt Springs AR, previously heard,
among several others listed (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2306 monitoring: ``7.490 --- Hello
from NJ. You are a 55 here with some qsb at 5:08pm 8-6-2025. Best
regards, Dave, KD2GIY``

``Just found your program this evening --- Glenn, I was tuning around
the bands tonight and caught your program on WRMI 9395 kHz at 23:45
UTC {Wed Aug 6}. Very interesting information on SW listening. The
signal was good with moderate fading / interference, but definitely
listenable. What days and times does your program air on WRMI? I'd
like to catch a full program. Best regards, Patrick Deisch``

``Patrick, You have discovered a new time - WRMI makes frequent
changes. Here is my complete schedule. The current show #2306 will
only get a few more airings; #2307 becomes available in about 24
hours.

Glenn Hauser logs August 5-6, 2025  View Printable Version

Logs
** CANADA. 346 MCW kHz, Aug 6 at 0616 UT, dash and YXL, my #1 Canadian
beacon, SiouX Lookout, Ontario, JBA vs summer noise level, harbinger
of improving fall conditions? In nightly bandscans, not detectable
even a carrier since June 25; 500 watts (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CANADA. 15034 USB, Aug 6 at 1457, Trenton Military not off the air
but JBA, timecheck still two minutes slow, ``1455``. One hopes that in
matters of life & death, Canadian forces be a bit more accurate (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. 1680, Aug 6 circa 1930 UT, peaking at crossroads of US81
& US 412 = S Van Buren and W Owen K Garriott in Enid, rock music and
promo of classic rock, did not hear ID as Virtual DJ Radio this time,
but sounds like the same as usual; for the record (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** SPAIN. 15500, Wed Aug 6 at 2159, token English from SNR is still
OFF the air to N America, the other three as usual audible direct,
15390, better 15520 S8/9+10 and best 17715 S9/+20, going from jazz to
TS and English opening, preview features to be about genealogical
tourism, and a festival 8-10 Aug for The Boss, ``Born in the U-S-A``.
2202 news: 80th anniversary of American A-bombing of Hiroshima and
then Nagasaki. 140,000 killed in Hiroshima then or later; more Gazans
killed by a truck, 188 dead of famine [is that all?]; Drumpf threatens
EU with 35% tariff, reduced to 15% effective 7 Aug; about
asylum-seeking miners/minors in Canarias.

2205 BOMBSHELL announcement: REE`s token English of 3 x 30 min per
week is about to become even more token. From Sept 1, only once,
Wednesdays at 10 am UT - presumably meaning on the radio, but you can
still listen online, or satellite? at other times. Go to www.RNE.es -
Will need to listen again to get exact wording.
https://www.rtve.es/play/audios/english-language-broadcast/
They will hardly need TWO English announcers any more. 2206
genealogical tourism, new? thing to visit ancestral locales (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 11785.023, Aug 6 at 2158, no signal direct from VOT,
erroneous at Emirler, so I concentrate on SPAIN, q.v.; but is on the
air at next check 2208 already with the 2-minute multi-lingual ID
filler reel, so there must not have been much olds; 2210 music. There
is an annoying het/squeal not a constant pitch on the plus side,
roughly 11785.4, same on both my antennas. At 2230 into UTwente when
measured, S9+55, same squeal, so I think it a transmission defect
rather than QRM, erroneous at Emirler.  2238 & 2246
``always-by-your-side`` promo twice with music between. 2253 s/off as
if 17620 at 1230, something`s always awry at Ankara. 2254 IS. 2256
pause and restart IS with extraneous German IDs, erroneous till
2258.5* (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2306 monitoring: confirmed Tuesday
August 5 from 2331 on SW Gold Radio, Germany, 3975.003-, S8/9+5 into
UTwente.

Also confirmed UT Wednesday August 6 at 0030 on WRMI 9395, S9+10/20
into Knoxville remote.

Also confirmed Wednesday August 6 at 1931 on SW Gold Radio, Germany,
6160.001- S9/+15 and 3975.002+ S9/+15 into UTwente.

Also confirmed Wednesday August 6 at 2100 on WBCQ 7489.92 after TOMBS,
ID; Maryland SDR had heavy ute? noise QRM on minus side, unsure if
local, mostly evitable by USB tuning. Next:

0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S;
1630 UT Thursday SW Radio, Germany 6160.

Thanks for financial support this week from Sebastian Schlüter,
Lingen, Germany, a generous contribution via PayPal, to woradio at
yahoo.com

One may also contribute by MO or check on a US bank to:
Glenn Hauser, PO Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 5085, Aug 6, George McClintock informs me that this WTWW
transmitter has been behaving well lately, so prospects are good for a
WORLD OF RADIO appearance UT Saturday at 0300 - but a lot could happen
in ~54 hours (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. Dead air from all these WRMIs, Aug 6 at 0638, 0643: 5850 S9,
5950 S9, 7570, 7780, 9455; 9955 possibly JBM. All scheduled of course,
for `Classic Redneck Radio`. Also supposed to be on 5800, 7730, off or
too weak to tell. Something`s odd at Okee (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 7235, Aug 6 at 0642, still that JBA mystery carrier

BRAZIL. 11780, UT Tue Aug 5 at 0149, I luck out on a day the token
English is not run over by sports, which seemed to precede it with
excessive enthusiasm. Unfortunately I`m listening via the ``local``
SDR in ``Brasila`` which hardly gets a local-quality signal, only
S3/S7, so I can`t fully understand everything. YL voice is talking
about Dominican Republic musical influences on Brasil, mentions
sertanejo with snippet examples. 0154 it`s over already, outro
English, ID as RNB International Service, switch to Spanish, YL voice
but Brasilian accent, same subject, mentions cumbia, bolero, bachata.
0159 RNA Portuguese s/off, then IDs for MW and FM frequencies in Rio
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

SPAIN. 15500, Mon Aug 4 at 2215, dead air in token English to N
America from SNR; but into UTwente the other three well audible:
15520.001 S9+20, 15389.992 S9+15 and 17715.014 S9+15 all into UTwente.
By 0020 direct, only 17715 remains on, VG direct. One wonders if each
antenna be hardwired into a certain transmitter; or can they choose
which beam is most dispensable? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
