Glenn Hauser logs August 2-3, 2025  View Printable Version

Logs
** CANADA. 6754 USB, Aug 3 at 0125, CHR not off the air, VOLMET for
Comox, Victoria, Vancouver; and Abbotsford, which is a 133K+ suburb
east of Vancouver even closer to the WA border; in fact my atlas has
to place its name on the US side. Have not run across any `no report
received`s since reactivation, but Trenton Military TIME is still 2
minutes slow, ``0125 zulu`` when it`s really 0127. Richard Langley,
NB, reports:

``While checking 6754 kHz USB last night (3 August UTC) starting
around 02:20 UTC, reception was normal with actual weather a but few
minutes before 02:30, there was a "Trenton Military out" statement and
they were gone. Didn't come back last night and not there today.
Nothing on 15034 kHz USB either. -- Richard Langley`` (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** ISRAEL. 9963 CW, Aug 3 at 0058, very fast marker, VVV DE 4XZ
repeating over and over. This was widely reported in the WOR iog on
July 20-21 as a new naval frequency from Haifa, by Alan Holder, Zach
Liangas, John Hudak and Walt Salmaniw. ``It has often been suggested
that 4XZ is an espionage station rather than one for military
communications.`` See https://priyom.org/military-stations/israel/4xz ;
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NORTH AMERICA. 6925 AM, Aug 3 at 0109 and still 0124, pirate music
S9+20 vs HSNL of S9+10/20, OPOB. Reported here as Liquid Radio on
6924.9:
https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,148236.0.html
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SCOTLAND [non]. 5850, UT Sun Aug 3 at 0110, S9+30/40 of Copland`s
Appalachian Spring, as sked on this fortnight`s `Encore` via WRMI
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 11785.008+, Sat Aug 2 at 2200, VOT not off the air,
S9+45/50 into UTwente, opening English (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 9870, Aug 3 at 0056, VOT IS & Spanish IDS, S9+20/30 direct.
01-02 broadcast is 250 kW, 252 degrees from Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** TURKEY. 9750.018-, Sun Aug 3 at 1855, VOT S9+40/50 into UTwente
with `Letterbox`, Cemre first talking about forest fires, including
near Ankara, TRT, temps 42+C last weekend, hot inside the office too.
1) Andrew Kuznetsov, Riga, Latvia. 2) Jayanta Chakraborty, India,
several emails this week; gets best on 7275, the 03 frequency
backwards to NAm, altho they do not point that out. 3) Christer
Brunström, west coast of Sweden. 4) Mikhail? Rapaszok?, Gdynia,
Poland, about a destroyer ship in a museum. 1906 that is all, 1907
theme (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 18157.5 USB, Aug 3 at 1454, W3FF in California, has a lawn
leprechaun, much stronger than several contacts, on the HFQSO.com
Activity Net; and as shown on that website, q.v. Budd in northern CA.
QRZ.com:
``W3FF USA flag USA, BUDD L DRUMMOND, 2390 TEMPLETON DR, REDDING, CA
96002`` - More about him and the net, supposedly not untl 1730:
https://www.qrz.com/db/W3FF
Condx are horrible, mostly JBA carriers in BC bands except 9930 WTWW;
and no hams audible on higher bands (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2306 monitoring: confirmed Saturday
August 2 at 1930 on WRN North America stream.

Also confirmed Saturday August 2 at 2000 on WRN Europe stream.

Also confirmed Saturday August 2 at 2100 on WRMI 9395, S9/+10 into
Knoxville SDR; a rather rough start a few words of another show
first.

Also confirmed Saturday August 2 at 2230 on WRMI 15770, S9/+15 into
UTwente.

Also confirmed Saturday August 2 at 2343 the 2330 on
IRRS/IRN/IPAR/NEXUS/IBA webcast.

Also confirmed UT Sunday August 3 at 0320 about 7 minutes into so the
0315v started circa 0313 on WA0RCR, 1860 AM, Wentzville MO, audible vs
HSNL at distant Knoxville TN SDR.

Still not on WRMI 9955 Sun at 1030, rather `Classic Redneck` nonsense;
WOR presumably on webcast, unchecked.

Confirmed Sunday August 3 at 1916 the 1900 on IRRS SW via AM Italia,
1322.994+, noisy S6/S7 into UTwente. Still not on 918 or 207 kHz.

Glenn Hauser, PO Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 5085, UT Sun Aug 3 at 0113, WTWW not off the air, S9+30/40,
no splatter but JBA parasitic spurs plus/minus 12.8 kHz. 0259 ID and
0300 starting `Truth2Ponder` but chop off the air in a minute. I
should have asked them to play WOR then since it was impossible 24h
earlier (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 9955, UT Sun Aug 3 at 0057, WRMI S9+20/30 of dead air, then
JBM, gradually fading up audio. Sked at 0045 is `La Verdad para el
Mundo` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 12050, Aug 3 at 0108, RCM/WEWN not off the air, Rosary in
Spanish, S9+10/20. Also JBA at 1445 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 1190, Aug 3 at 0614 UT, caught partial ID, ``97.7 and 1190
AM``, country music. I`m quite sure it`s KKOJ Jackson MN again as in
my last report 24h ago, 5 kW daytimer in the nightmiddle (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 7235, Aug 3 at 0623, JBA carrier again from mystery
unlisted station. Could others check this out? This is the only hour
I`m sure it be on, not before 0600? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 7335, Aug 3 at 1035, JBA carrier, checking for RRI-3
since I happen to awaken, as reported but missing from Aoki & EiBi and
nothing else scheduled now; also JBA carrier on 7290.0, not RRI Nabire
which would be off by now and offset minus; rather CNR1 Beijing
scheduled (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

Logs
WORLD OF RADIO HITLIST
Hi Glenn, My latest Hitlist update.
https://www.w4uvh.net/hitlist.htm

1) Belgium - R Augusta Int: Added links to this station which
broadcasts via the transmitter of R Onda. (NB: Their website suggests
that the "station home" is The Ivory Coast. However, if I list it
under Ivory Coast, the station will probably not be easily located in
the list, so I've listed it under Belgium, under the R Onda entry.
Depending on feedback, I may change this in future).
2) Cuba - R Havana Cuba: Added a second alternate link to RHC live
stream (thanks to Jean-Michel Aubier in WOR iog mail list)
3) Norway - R Northern Star: Added link to live stream (Thanks to
Zacharias Liangas in WOR iog mail list)
4) USA - KSKO Public Radio: Added link to this station as it is
relayed for an hour each week on shortwave via Spaceline Bulgaria.

The next update is scheduled for September
Best wishes and 73, Alan Roe

** CUBA [and non]. 1040 kHz, August 2 at 0648 UT, WHO has QRM which I
would describe now as a ``squeaker`` rather than wobbler, or even
whooper. Always accused is the only Cuban listed on 1040: 10 kW R.
Mayabeque, Güines. Is it ever in normal programming? (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2306 monitoring: not confirmed UT
Saturday August 2 at 0300 on WTWW 5085: ``George advises me that a
relay failed and they had to switch transmitters, so 5085 is off and
will not be able to carry WOR after all tonight at 0300 UT Sat. I
appreciate his trying and keeping me informed. Glenn``

Confirmed Saturday August 2 at 1445 the 1430 on SW Gold Radio,
Germany, 6160.000+, S9+5 into UTwente.

Also confirmed Saturday August 2 at 1600 on WRN North America stream.

Also confirmed Saturday August 2 at 1732 the 1730 on SW Gold Radio,
Germany, 6160.001-, S9+15 and 3975.001-, S8/S9 into UTwente.

Not confirmed circa 1930 Saturday August 2 on WA0RCR, 1860 AM, MO,
inaudible into some IL SDRs, not even a new? one in Madison, right
next to St Louis.

Confirmed Saturday August 2 at 2000 on WRN Europe stream. Next:

2100 UT Saturday WRMI 9395 to NNW;
2230 UT Saturday WRMI 15770 to NE;
2300 UT Saturday WTWW 9475 [suspended];
0230vUT Sunday WA0RCR 1860-AM [nominal 0315; as late as 0400];
1900 UT Sunday IRRS SW via AM Italia 1323 and/or 918;
2100 UT Sunday WRMI 15770 to NE;
2130 UT Sunday SW Radio, Germany 3975 & 6160;
2300 UT Sunday WRMI 9395 to NNW [new];

0030 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to SW;
0830 UT Monday SW Radio, Germany 6160 [suspended];
1930 UT Monday SW Radio, Germany 3975 & 6160;

1400 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [also web-, phonecast];
2000 UT Tuesday IRRS SW via AM Italia 1323 and/or 918;
2330 UT Tuesday SW Radio, Germany 3975;
0030 UT Wednesday WRMI 9395 to NNW [new];
1930 UT Wednesday SW Radio, Germany 3975 & 6160;
2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW;
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S;
1630 UT Thursday SW Radio, Germany 6160.

Thanks for financial support this week from Sebastian Schlüter,
Lingen, Germany, a generous contribution via PayPal, to woradio at
yahoo.com

One may also contribute by MO or check on a US bank to:
Glenn Hauser, PO Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 600 kHz, Aug 2 at 0635 UT, ``600 WREC and 97.1 FM``, back
into C2CAM. The 600 I normally hear with C2CAM is WMT in IA, but no
sign of it now. WMT major nightlobe goes SW thisaway, while WREC goes
WNW/NW from Memphis. 92.1 is a mere translator, W221CR (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** U S A. 820 kHz, Aug 2 at 0637 UT, WBAP Fort Worth is getting CCI at
almost equal level from another talk station; something must be amiss
to be heard here in WBAP`s prime `clear` channel coverage area. Hard
to DF but maybe ESE/WNW. Prime suspect is WWBA Largo FL, which I have
heard before, U4 50/1 kW, despite neither day nor night pattern
favorable thisaway, talk/sports format. Or KUTR Taylorsville UT, U8
50/2.5 kW religious, ND day, night pattern northward (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** U S A. 1130 kHz, Aug 2 at 0632 UT, C&W music dominant over KWKH
sportstalk. KLEY Wellington KS must be back on air after missing a few
days and nights. At 0659 goes to dead air; 0700 cuts back on just in
time to ID as KLEY, ``Thunder Country``. Format change; last year`s
NRC AM Log says ``Super Hits 1130 AM and 104.1 FM``. In the August
`Line of Sight DX`, misleadingly titled newsletter of WTFDA, John
Zondlo in OKC says: ``Classic Hits KLEY 1130 and K281DI 104.1
Wellington KS have switched to Gold based Country as “Thunder
Country.” It actually is in Thunder country: Wichita Thunder, that is.
KLEY is a regular here on 1130, mixing with KWKH Shreveport.`` I again
must point out that KLEY is supposed to be tantamount to a daytimer
with 250 watts and only ONE WATT at night - obviously proudly cheating
for months and months (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 1190, August 2 at 0650 UT, honky-tonk piano and country YL
vocal, good sig an anomaly, must be cheater, what? 0701 ID as KKOJ and
97.7 FM. That`s a 5 kW direxional DAYTIMER with a lobe to the SW, but
evidently enough to the SSW, C&W format in Jackson, Minnesota and the
FM is a mere translator K249EO. Fox ``news`` not starting until 0702 -
does station automatically delay it? Hard to believe net would start
it any later than 0700 or 0701 max. This Jackson is in extreme
southern MN a few miles from IA, east of Worthington, near I-90, but
address on US 71 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 1190, August 2 at 0658 UT, while monitoring KKOJ, QRM from
EWTN ``radio extra``. That would be KDMR Kansas City MO, U2 5000/500
watts, night pattern with a notch to SSW but we are more like SW
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 7235, August 2 at 0605, I try various remotes to discern
where this mystery carrier is coming from. Both W1NT in NH and KFS in
CA are getting about the same JBA carrier as I do direct. Not audible
at UTwente or Bonaire. Something seems to be there at TWR RSA, but
can`t lock onto it. At 0629 I reconfirm the usual JBA carrier direct,
S8 = high noise level (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
