Rio. I thought it was PY1SHK, unfound, but DX heat/cluster matches
frequency and call to a contact at 2203. Then back to QRZ.com:

I don`t usually have any clear on MW, but the most obvious absence

contacting a TI. QRZ.com: ``CE3VAK Chile flag Chile, Victor M.

into UTwente. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler. But recheck at
2353 when measured, a song which could be Turkish or Turkistanish, now
S9+30/40; 2355 VOT English s/off as if 1330 on 13635, something`s
always awry at Ankara. Fragment of IS, just in time to pause, cut to
restart IS loop now with German IDs. Emirler macht immer Fehler. 0000
March 17, s/on but hard to understand German, must be Turkish accent:
something`s always awry at Ankara. Now the ChiCom understation is
audible. By next check 0006, VOT finally off, clear for East
Turkistan, land of imperialist ChiCom cultural genocide against

WBCQ 5130 cut off JL who was running over, not gotta go until 0304.
BTW, 7490 at that hour was getting only OTH radar into NH SDR.

** U S A. 5085, WTWW update early UT March 17 from George McClintock:
still can`t get it to work, after installing a new tube. Will keep
messing with it, awaiting consultant, who is ex-Continental and made
the transmitter, to return from Vietnam. There was a burned-up shroud
around the tubes, blackening. Checked the tube sockets and they seem
to match. Another $ 1200 tube did not work and surprisingly the seller
refunded his money. Got two plungers costing $ 6000 each (Glenn Hauser,

** U S A. 17790, March 16 at 2220, zero signal direct from WRMI-7,
leaving 17715 Spain the OSOB; while 15770 WRMI-9 is nominal (Glenn

** U S A. 9455, Mon March 16 at 2307, WRMI-11 in Portuguese, so RAE
relay is back to that after excursions to Chinese, Japanese, Spanish.
Let its S8+30/40 into Georgia SDR run in background and did not notice
exactly when it went silent, but at 2350 came to life with the IS/ID,
ToH leadup as if just signing on. Same mixup we`ve been getting on
Sundays, instead of previously scheduled WOR at 2330 (Glenn Hauser,

** U S A. 5890, UT Tue March 17 at 0202, surprised to hear WWCR-4 on
the air now; maybe it`s been back for a while, but only scheduled UT
Tue-Sat at 02-04 when I haven`t been checking much. It`s Truth House
this hour and guess what, the convicted and deceased Tony Alámo at
03-04! per sked. 4840 & 5935 are also on air, so WWCR is back to full
75% with #1 unit still closed down voluntarily. This also possiblizes
the leapfrog mixing product on 5980 if not in reverse on 5845 (Glenn

UNIDENTIFIED. 760, March 17 at 0211 UT, something in Spanish almost
as strong as WJR, but no time to follow it. Rather than Cuba, most
likely XEABC near Mexico City among the six XEs, if not 10 kW daytimer
KMTL Arkansas (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 9490, March 17 at 0206, huge S9+40 open carrier direct,
surely too strong for ISS in case on by mistake with no R. República
feed? It`s the SSOB exceeding 9395, 9690, 9700, 9955! Still at 0245
S9+50 into Georgia SDR, but seems to go off about 0258 -- no, a weaker
deadair is still there, only S7/9+15 past 0313 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

Bank` mentioned. Appears to be only? all over Michigan, but no 1070s
there; in the continued silence of KFTI Wichita (Glenn Hauser, OK,

``North Star Bank in Estherville, Iowa is a longtime sponsor on KILR,
which has been getting out suspiciously well the past couple years.
They've been solidly under KNX on many of my recordings at the Border
Inn. 73 Tim Hall``

KILR is U4, supposedly only 250/48 watts! Estherville is almost at the
Minnesota border, east of Sioux Falls. Day pattern is slightly
lopsided favoring the southwest, night pattern more so. In this Tim
Hall report from 2025y, times presumably EDT so 1159 UT:

``1070 KILR IA Estherville – 10/27 0759 – Steady signal, way under
KNX, with ID: “News Talk 10-70 and 97.3 FM, KILR Estherville” into
Town Hall News. Listed 48 Watts nights (directional) or 15.3 Watts
PSRA (non-directional). 1040 miles``

Then I also get these tips from Saul Chernos, Ont.: ``North Star bank
also in Minnesota. There’s also in Iowa including Estherville`` (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. ``Hi Glenn, A while back you mentioned picking up a
signal somewhere around 1441.65. This signal is present on many of my
Border Inn recordings from last October. It is stronger on my more
northerly wires, but conditions that weekend strongly favored northern
signals, so that not be a reliable clue.

More importantly, I have just noticed that there is a companion signal
on 1458.35 -- about the same signal strength as 1441.65, and stronger
on my more northerly wires. This would seem to imply that we're
dealing with spurs from a station on 1450.

On the recording I'm currently reviewing (aimed 56 degrees at
Minnesota), the stations that were coming in on 1450 were KBFS, KEYY
and KJCV. Of course, there may have been others present that didn't
ID.

KBFS is all over my recordings from last October -- even on wires
aimed way south of them. They would probably be the first station I
would suspect. KJCV is semi-regular and KEYY (despite being one of my
closest signals on 1450) is only an occasional catch.

I'll try to gather a bit more data, such as what time the signal
finally goes away each morning, and what stations were present on 1450
when the spurs were strongest. I'm well behind on reviewing last
October's recordings, so it may be some time before I can assemble
enough information to be useful. 73 Tim Hall``

Great, your attn to these things is much appreciated! And the KILR
reply. I tune primarily in USB, so next time I get 1441+ I must try
1460 minus on LSB. KBFS = Belle Fourche SD; KEYY Provo UT; KJCV =
Jackson WY.

In fact I check this out soon, March 16 at 0432 UT on the R75: 1441.61
is indeed accompanied by a matching JBA carrier about 1458.39. Then I
try to get a rough bearing on the handheld PL-660, and 1441.61 seems
to peak more from NW than NNW, so that points to UT or WY rather than
SD (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
