From now and for an unknowntime, at least for 3 years, I will not use any radio except the remote SDRs forDXing. Recently we moved from the village back to the city in a space thatprohibits the use of desktop DXing, a place flooded by high levels of noise inthe LMHF bands. The radio is now used mostly for FM, for news listening.we runpolitically lively condition with always very interesting twits every day ..

WORLD OF RADIO HITLIST update May 22

Hi Glenn, My latest Hitlist update.
https://www.w4uvh.net/hitlist.htm

1) ~Aggregator - World Radio Network: Updated links to point to new
A-25 Schedules
2) Switzerland - R Gloria: Added new entry for station (sharing
SW transmitter with R Onda)
3) Taiwan - R Taiwan Int: Updated link to new programme schedule

The next update is scheduled for early July.
Best wishes and 73, Alan Roe

** CANADA [and non]. 800, May 22 at 0629 UT `Coast to Coast AM`, ID
for CKLW - it`s about equal level to KQCV OKC on E/W longwire.
Normally hear no CKLW at all. Radio-locator shows day pattern has more
of a lobe to the SW of Windsor, but night pattern is not notched
either. Very different patterns for CKLW in NRC Pattern Book of 2013y:
huge major lobe to NNE day and night; secondary lobe night to east and
minor lobes including to SW. Still no XEERG noise. CKLW website says
C2CAM is at 1-5 am, in one spot, but 5-9 am in another! Apparently
partially auto-reading my computer clock which is on UT not EDT.
Wonder if they have other unCanadian shows? TED Radio Hour.
Radio-locator shows address for CKLW in Toronto! (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** NEW ZEALAND. 17675, May 22 at 0558, tune-in just in time to hear
QSY notice to retune to 11725, and off*. So I do; 11725 in about a
minute *0559, stronger S9+20/30 here, says RNZ International - not
``Pacific``, is turning over to BBC for the next halfhour. QSY made as
Bell Bird IS was playing; on 11725 I could hear a JBA echo as if
reel-to-reel tape print-thru. She got it right, while own How To
Listen websked claims from 0559 it`s on 13690 only! No, not both this

** U S A. WTWW, 1620 UT May 22: George McClintock explains the
terrible output of the 9930 transmitter last night, as I reported.
There was a serious security problem. Unknown intruder entered the
station and turned tuning knobs all over the place. This happened
because the operator forgot to turn the alarm on; and the gate at the
fence has not yet been hardened, but that project is underway. Called
police, but intruder not caught (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO
2296)

UNIDENTIFIED. 4849.96, May 22 at 0606, that JBA carrier. I wish some
Euromonitors would check it at this hour (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

Glenn Hauser logs May 20-21, 2025  View Printable Version
Thursday, May 22 2025

Logs
** OKLAHOMA. 89.7, May 21 at 2040 UT, $ tereo pilot is back on KJTH
Ponca City, contrary to my check May 18 (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. Some area tropo affects UHF TV, May 21 at 1455 UT. Bad
signal on RF 20 briefly decodes with News on 6, which is KOTV Tulsa,
and after tuning around I get same on RF 26, which is primary, but how
was I seeing same on 20? Rabbitears.info reminds us that RF 20 is
KQCW, 19-1, which is a substation of KOTV. Checking KQCW program
schedule, yes in fact they put News on 6 on KQCW during that and
several other hours. KOTV news stream audio is also on 1170 kHz, now
renamed KOTV too, ex-KTSB, ex-KFAQ, ex-KVOO. And 1170 also spews IBOC
QRM above 1180, ``jamming`` R. Martí.

Otherwise around 15 UT May 21: NO signal on 17, not a bit on the
``meter`` from local Enid K17JN-D misnamed K17JI-D. Either it is off,
or totally QRMed by DX, such as KTEN Ada, OK`s only full-power on 17.
Later in afternoon when tropo has burned off, still zero on 17, such
as 2330.

RF 29, KTUZ signal is BAD, unusual, must be DX QRM. But there are no
other full-powers in OK or KS per FCC LMS. BTW, City of License
Shawnee for KTUZ is meaningless, as it`s really part of the NE OKC
antenna farm, sharing the very same tower with all these TV and FM:
https://www.rabbitears.info/tower.php?request=site&asrn=1253490
And how can 27 KFOR-TV be only 55 kW ND, while 29 KTUZ-TV is 1000 kW
ND? Normally roughly equal signals here (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR)

** SPAIN. 15500, 17715, 15520, 15390, Wed May 21 at 2200, token
English from SNR on all four, previewing something about a festival;
news leading something about former Ukrainian leader fleeing (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR) See also TIPS FOR RATIONAL LIVING below

** TURKEY. 11785, May 21 at 2159, 2215 direct, VOT no signal; nor at
2253 into UTwente, nor on accidentalternate 9875, tho that would have
WTWW splatQRM. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** U K [non]. 11725, May 21 at 0602, S9/+25, BBC news relay via RNZP
again here instead of sked 13690, the booming voice of Neil Nunes, who
originated in Jamaica; and again the SSOB and if it were not for JBA
11700 France, OSOB (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 8992 USB, May 21 until 1437, US military crypto message
exercise concluding with ``Automatic, out``. Punxuated by irregular
noise bursts, rather like thunderclaps, which I think are intentional
among different types of self-imposed QRM; first heard on much weaker
15016 USB (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2295 monitoring: ``Richard Lemke,
St. Albert, Alberta, Canada, the desk of Richard’s listening Post,
Radio: JRC NRD-535 HF (30 years of service), Antenna: random long
wires in the trees. World of Radio #2295 [WRMI:]
9455 static QRN, QSB Fading, 2330, 2345 (45343), 2358, May 18 UTC 2025
[sic: was Sunday May 17]
9395 kHz, static QRN, S7 signal, 2332, 2345, 2358 (45433), 2359, May
20 UTC 2025 [Tue] (Lemke, Richard -AB)``

Confirmed Tuesday May 20 at 2330 on WRMI 9395, S9+20/30 into Georgia
SDR.

Also confirmed Tuesday May 20 at 2331 on SW Radio, Germany, 3975.002,
S9/+10 into UTwente.

Also confirmed Wednesday May 21 at 1931 on SW Radio, Germany,
6160.000+, S9+10 and 3975.002-, S9/+10 both into UTwente.

Also confirmed Wednesday May 21 at 2100 on WBCQ 7490 -76 Hz =
7489.924, S3/S6 into NH SDR. BTW, tuning in early at 2056, it`s
*still* TOMBS instead of what used to precede and still shown on sked,
`Pirate Joe Extravaganzo` - not extravaganza, which would be feminine.
TOMBS has no built in breaks at hourtops, so he has to be chopped off
at 2059.5 for WBCQ promo and ID. Next:

0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S;
1630 UT Thursday SW Radio, Germany 6160.

Thanks this week for generous financial support from Peter Robinson,
Preston UK, via PayPal to woradio at yahoo.com

One may also contribute by MO or check on a US bank to Glenn Hauser,
PO Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 98.3, May 21 at 2040 UT, dead air in $ tereo, presumably my
otherwise near-local KQZQ Kiowa KS, home of Scott Becker, 97.0 kW ERP,
208.9 m HAAT (Glenn Hauser, Enid OK, WOR)

** U S A. 9930, May 21 at 2204, WTWW at first with dead air, then
TOMBS modulation, extremely strong. Even before mod started I was
hearing splatter spurs, as well as the usual parasites plus and minus
12.9 kHz from center. The splatter beyond sort of peaks at multiples
of that, tho very diffuse/broad. Some peaks circa 9872, 9859,
especially 9846, 9808; upper around 10005 severely QRMing WWV! Once
there is talk modulation, on a second receiver I match the peaks to
9930 and NOT 9980 WWCR which is also TOMBsing but never synchronized.
Also match during music bits. I detect the splatter as far down as
9600 and as far up as 10250 very approximately. Meanwhile I emailed
George by 2225 urging him to close down immediately. Probably did not
get my message right away, altho abated slightly, but still there
around 9846, 10050; and at 2305 around 9846, 10015. At 2323 check,
9930 is still on but dead air again; turned off at 2327. Back on at
*2328.7 OC. 2330.7 resume TOMBS, shortly back to dead air. Making
adjustments, I guess. 2335 off again. *2342 cut back on with TOMBS
immediately, still broad splatter peaks circa 9846, 10015. And so it
goes (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

Tuesday, May 20 2025

Logs
** CUBA. 5025, May 20 at 0635, R. Rebelde is on again, music S9+20 but
so is the noise level. Earlier at 0158 check, it was off (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** MOLDOVA. 15175, May 20 at *1957 carrier on, 1959 some mod, and 5+1
timesignal to 2000, Russian ``Novosti`` = news. Another test of Vesti
FM for DVR from Grigoriopol`. Surprised at the wide interest in these
from monitors in North America and Europe. Only S9/+5 into UTwente vs
OTH radar clickery already running between ~15150 and 15175 (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NEW ZEALAND [and non]. 11725, May 20 at 0631, RNZP S9 here only,
not on 13690 like last night, where supposedly sked until 0758. It`s
the SSOB and except for JBA 11700 FRANCE, the OSOB (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. A bit of area tropo visiblizes a couple more channels to
explore, May 20 at 0440-0445 UT:

RF23, OKC:
52-1 KSBI-HD
52-2 BOUNCE
52-3 LAFF
52-4 GRIT
52-5 ION+ [why isn`t this with ION on RF 18??]

Also the STB remembers some alternate virtuals: 52-1 and 52-2 leading
to RF51 where of course there is no signal any longer.

RF28: which is KTPX-TV Okmulgee, Tulsa market; compare to OKC RF 18 in
previous report, some match, but not all on KOPX.
44-1 ION
44-2 [skipped]
44-3 CourtTV
44-4 MOVIES!
44-5 Mystery
44-6 GameSho
44-7 QVC
44-8 HSN
(Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR)

** TURKEY. 11785.006, May 20 at 2159, VOT not off the air, IS &
English IDs, S9+10 direct but not enough vs local hi noise level. At
2248 into UTwente when measured, S9+20/30 of music. 2252
``with-you-every-hour`` promo. 2253 s/off as if it`s the 1230 on
17620, awry at Ankara, and first notes of IS once before chop, no
finesse, erroneous at Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. ``Hi Glenn! I have been trying to log N4WLO/B on 28200.5 kHz
for the past several days to confirm the message he is sending, but I
have been unable to due to the poor conditions. When I first logged
the beacon back in August 2024, the operator was just sending a series
of dits with a short break in between, and his callsign once every ten
minutes. A couple of weeks ago, several listeners reported to the
hfbeacons list that his message had changed. They reported that he was
now sending “TEST DE N4WLO/B”, so “TEST” is likely what you heard as
“NST”. Whether it was the rapid speed of the code or imperfect keying,
“TE” could easily sound like an “N”. Steve Howe, Saint Albans, VT`` I
bet that`s it; tnx (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2295 monitoring: confirmed UT
Tuesday May 20 at 0330 on WRMI 7780, S9+20/30 into S Texas SDR.

Also confirmed Tuesday May 20 at 1300 on WRMI 9955, S9+15/30 direct.
Immediately follows music at end Slovakia relay in Spanish, no ToH
ID.

Also confirmed Tuesday May 20 at 1422 the 1400 on WRMI 9955, S9/+5
direct.

Also confirmed Tuesday May 20 at 2004 the 2000 on IRRS SW via AM
Italia, 1322.995, S8 and noisy into UTwente. Next:

2330 UT Tuesday WRMI 9395 to NNW;
2330 UT Tuesday SW Radio, Germany 3975;
1930 UT Wednesday SW Radio, Germany 3975 & 6160;
2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW;
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S;

** U S A. 9955, May 20 at 2205, WRMI anomalies: this frequency
missing; 9455 is on, S9+20/30 direct, M&W discussing dress, athletix,
Oral Roberts. 9395 weaker and undermod, sounds similar but not //
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 810.60 approx., May 20 at 0643 UT, mystery JBA carrier
hetting 810.0 WHB. Its exact frequency varies a little from one log to
the next (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 1030 kHz, May 20 at 0645 UT, nothing but noise. Sounds
like regular AM being fed noise and emitting it, rather than IBOC or
anything else (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 15120-15145 approx., May 20 at 2202, OTH radar clickery,
