Glenn Hauser logs October 7-8, 2025  View Printable Version

Logs
** CUBA [non]. Oct 7 at 2220, NO RHC signals anywhere: 15230, 15140,
13780, 11950, 11760. SAWA (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** EGYPT [non]. 9440, Oct 7 at 2115 and after 2200, no signal from R.
Cairo sesquihour in English. How long has it been since anyone heard
it, even dead air? At least other stations courteously keep it clear,
China between 2100 & 2300; BBC not on until 2200. The A25 mostly?
imaginary R. Cairo sked:
https://new.hfcc.org/data/schedbybrc.php?seas=A25&broadc=ERU
All are on 9 MHz band, no doubt an antenna limitation. Any of the
others ever heard? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** INTERNATIONAL VACUUM. Oct 7 at 2025 UT, several cable TV channels
freeze or go to black, via Optimum [sic] in Enid. No apologies or
stand-bys on screen, but probably solar transit outages affecting the
particular satellite they feed through: MSNBC, CNN, HLN, USA at least.
By 2030/2031 they begin to melt/resume (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** MEXICO. 28183 CW, Oct 7 at 2204, VVV XE1RCS/B - familiar beacon but
still missing from WGB roster; see my March 31 log for 28182, at Cerro
Gordo (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NORWAY [non]. 3975.002-, Oct 7 at 2000, SW Gold Radio, GERMANY,
singing lullabyes but Karen includes some talk about her background as
an immigrant adoptee; dozing/deadair starts this time at 2014. 2030,
mod resumes with SWR ID and upbeat music until 2100 when there is no
outro. But into Feature Story News. Unclear whether the second
semihour be part of `Night Air`, but sked implies it`s a daily full
hour, nothing else at 2030 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** POLAND [non]. 17790, Oct 7 at 2201, this WRMI still on with PRES in
English, mistake? Unknown for how long but gone by 2217 check (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 11785.010, Oct 7 at 2203, no signal direct from VOT
English, but on by 2219 with music, S9+10 with flutter direct. At 2247
into UTwente when measured, S9+40/45 with music. Something`s always
awry at Ankara: 2254 s/off still imagines it be the 1230 broadcast on
17620, and IS. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler: 2256 restarts
IS with German IDs. 2300 TS and s/on German for two broadcasts, not
this one! Finally turned off at 2314* (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 28203 CW, Oct 7 at 2205, VVV-5x KA3BWP/B. WGB list:
``28203.0  KA3BWP/B - Stafford VA USA FM18gk - #0 (28 Sep 2025) Note:
VVV × 5 + ID + grid`` -- lots of activity now on 28 MHz both beacons
and phone, CB 27 MHz full of hets, but hardly anything on 24 or 21 MHz
hambands. QRZ.com: ``KA3BWP USA flag USA, Joseph P. McGinley, JOSEPH P
"J.P." MC GINLEY, 46 SCOTLAND CIR, STAFFORD, VA 22554 USA - 10 meter
propagation beacon 28.2025`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 28260 CW, Oct 7 at 2206, EEEEE VVV DE KC4QLP/B - WGB list:
``28260.0 KC4QLP/B - Little Falls NY USA FN23ob - #0/1/2 (07 Oct 2025)
Note: VVV de + IDs + grid + EEEE - Pwr 10w`` -- QRZ.com: ``KC4QLP USA
flag USA, ROBERT W CARTER, 387 Inghams Mills Rd, Little Falls, NY
13365, USA --- There is a new 10 meter beacon on the air from here at
28.260 mhz. 10 watts TPO into a Sirio Tornado High Gain 5/8 Wave Base
Antenna. The beacon operates on a continuous bases. QSL via eQSL.cc
only. Tech info can be found at http://www.kc4qlp.com/beacon.html and
at https://www.qrz.com/db/KC4QLP/B `` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. 28300 CW, Oct 7 at 2209, EEEEEEEEEE DE WD4NKA/B -
WGB list: ``28299.5 WD4NKA/B - Deltona FL USA EL98iv - #0/1/2 (23 Sep
2025) Note: ID + grid + 5" carrier + eee - Ant Cushcraft AR-10 "Ringo"
1/2 wave vert 20 feet agl 3w`` - and a phone Brazilian ham on exactly
same 28300 USB, but not QRMing each other. ``WD4NKA USA flag USA, GARY
G JOHANSON, 1125 ELGROVE DR, DELTONA, FL 32725, USA``
https://www.qrz.com/db/WD4NKA
Detailed info about how to go about setting up a beacon
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

Glenn Hauser logs October 6-7, 2025  View Printable Version
Tuesday, October 07 2025

Logs
** BELIZE. 28495 USB, Oct 6 at 2211, V31ZA call only uttered several
times, must be trying to reach a more DX station in pileup. QRZ.com:
``V31ZA Belize flag Belize, KEITH SLATER, P.O BOX 76, San Ignacio,
Cayo, Central America, Belize`` - is into animal rescues (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CHILE [and non]. 28422 USB, Oct 6 at 2210, CE7VP, Patagonia,
southern Chile, finally utters own ID after several quick contacts
with USA like K2HCW in NJ. QRZ.com: ``CE7VP Chile flag Chile, Javier
"Javi" Capdebilla A., P.O. Box : 42, Quellon, Chiloe Island, 5790000,
Chile`` - I logged him before, Apr 25 at 2210 on 28433.065.

Quite a few other sigs now on 10m, both phone and beacons not relogged
such as WN2A/AK2F, AA1TT/B, XE1JAL/B. Way up on 28750 USB, QSO sounds
like Ozes (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 11950, Mon Oct 6 at 2222, RHC Spanish, S9+20/30, slightly
better than 11760, S9+20/30 undermodulated, while 13780 is S9+20 but
JBM, 15230 deadair or trace of mod S9+20. 11950 is the rarest of
these, probably limited hours. Not in current EiBi, but in Aoki M-F
23-24 only from Bauta. That was winter timing IIRC for the TV audio
relay hour of `Mesa Redonda` but now // the mainstream RHC (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 15140, Oct 7 at 1858, RHC music, S8/S9 into Maryland SDR but
with squeal equally on both sides, transmission defect, SAWA, making
interesting display on H2Ofall, symmetrical bands out beyond
plus/minus 5 kHz, not avoidable even by AM-narrow tuning, LSB or USB.
1900 ID, 1901 open English, never giving frequency (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** CUBA [non]. 13605, 11930, 11860, Oct 7 at 1642, R. Martí/LV del
Trumpismo not off the air, blasting into Fort Lauderdale SDR (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** GERMANY. 3975.001, Oct 6 at 2000 after WOR, kept listening to SW
Gold Radio via UTwente, while 6160 had just about faded out, for the
Lullaby show, Karen Werner`s `Night Air` live from Bergen, Norway:
soft singing until 2017, then dead air -- or to put it more
positively, *quietude* as of course by then we are supposed to be
dozing, and I almost am. A daring new concept in broadcasting!

At 2030 revivifies with ID and some more quiet instrumental music;
2045 another ID and more upbeat music. 2100 `Letterbox Show` as sked
Mon & Sat 21-22; Sat 12-13 on 6160, Sun 14-15 on 6160, Fri 17-18 on
both 3975 & 6160, Fri 23-24 on 3975 as per:
https://shortwaveradio.de/en/week41-2025
but playing music along with greetings (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** POLAND [non!]. 17790, Oct 6 at 2159, WRMI gospel huxter // 15770,
but after cutting him off for ID at 2159.5, at 2200* 17790 goes off
rather than WRN relay of PRES as happens sporadically at least for a
portion of the 1-hour program. Something`s odd at Okee (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** SPAIN. 15520, Oct 7 at 1807, this REE frequency for ME is finally
reactivated after weeks of silence, in Spanish, S6/S9 into Maryland
SDR, // 15390 for Africa much weaker and // 17715 for S America much
stronger - but STILL missing 15500 the N American frequency! (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 11785, Oct 6 at 2158, VOT not off the air, IS & IDs in
English, 2200 TS and s/on, previews, S9+20/30 direct (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** U K O G B A N I [non]. 9915, Oct 7 at 0627, the 0601 BBCWS news
fairly audible via ASCENSION, 4 words behind relay via RNZP 11725 with
much stronger signal - despite BBC`s best efforts to prevent North
Americans from hearing them on SW. Per EiBi & Aoki, 06-07 is the only
hour that legacy 9915 is now in use anywhere; for central Africa
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2315 monitoring: confirmed
3975.002- at S9+5 and 6160.001 S9/+10 with usual RTTYditty on plus
side requiring narrowed bandwidth if not LSB tuning, into UTwente,
Monday October 6 at 1931 with WORLD OF RADIO 2315; 6160 almost fadeout
by end, followed by the Lullaby show, see GERMANY.

Also confirmed UT Tuesday October 7 at 0330 on WRMI 7780, S7/S9 into S
Texas SDR.

Also confirmed Tuesday October 7 at 1300 on WRMI 9955, JBA S6/S9
direct.

Not confirmed Tuesday October 7 at 1425 the 1400 on even weaker WRMI
9955, JBA, but probably. Next:

2000 UT Tuesday IRRS SW via AM Italia 1323;
2330 UT Tuesday SW Radio, Germany 3975;
0030 UT Wednesday WRMI 9395 to NNW;
1930 UT Wednesday SW Radio, Germany 3975 & 6160 [except Oct 8];
2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW;
2330 UT Wednesday WRMI 9395 to NNW;
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S;
1630 UT Thursday SW Radio, Germany 6160.

Many thanks to Jim Snow, St Simons Is., Georgia, for a generous check
to Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702, and says: ``Dear Mr
Hauser, I am sending this donation to help continue your great work in
promoting our hobby!``

One may also contribute via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to
woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 1420, Oct 7 at 0701 UT, ``CBC News`` attributed, sounds
like, but no Canadians here in NRC AM Log nor any *non-comms in US
which might be carrying it; then 0702 ad mentioning Mississippi Valley
Fairgrounds; and ``News/Talk 1420 WOC`` ID, same station? WOC
Davenport IA, the usual dominator here of 1420. In Log pp 259-260, I
don`t see any network with similar letters (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 1360.27 approx., Oct 7 at 0706, JBA het against 1360.0
stations. Estimated not by direct readout, but comparing het pitch in
AM, with a frequency offtuned in USB. IIRC a recent report elsewhere
of such, but can`t find it now. Nothing so far off, of course, on
mwoffsets (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 7672-7726 approx., Oct 7 at 0632, very wideband
multitonal carriers beating against each other, barely missing 7730
WRMI; what`s it? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 10009 USB approx., Oct 7 at 0628, mix of voices here,
one yelling sort of English, not on exact same frequency. Klingenfuß
2022 says it`s an AMS frequency = aeronautical mobile service, with no
further details, like 10006, 10012, 10015, 10018, 10021, 10024, 10027,
etc., etc. (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

Monday, October 06 2025

Logs
** CUBA. 6000, Oct 6 at 0456, S9+10/20 dead air from RHC except for
some hum. SAWA (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA [and non]. 9710, Oct 6 at 0503, S9+20 undermodulated? hymn,

static!! Ron (Monterey, Calif.)`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. What`s going on Saturday morning? Listening after 9 am,
very fine music past 11:30 but no announcements whatsoever. Expecting
to hear Performance Oklahoma (Glenn inquiry to KUCO 90.1)

Hauser, OK, WOR)

** ROMANIA. 11740, Oct 6 at 0506, S9/+10 of French about Roumanie:
yes, as in Aoki at 0500-0527; but missing from EiBi. Others report
some English frequencies missing:

``With a good signal in English using indoor equipment here in NB
today (4 October) at 20:35 UTC on 9740 kHz. It would be helpful for
those not familiar with the RRI frequencies if this Web page was kept
up to date:
https://www.rri.ro/en/frequencies
-- Richard Langley``

``However a few hours later no trace of RRI on 9740 at 0300 October 5
here in Houston. Not sure if it was bad propagation; no sign of Voice
of Turkiye on 7275 at the same time. Both were on 24 hours earlier
though reception was degraded. Stephen Luce, Houston, Texas``

Oct 5 at 1812: ``it would appear several RRI broadcasts are missing…
Romanian on 11975 17-20, the 11945 feed to the US. It seems most if
not all RRI is off SW right now. Regards, Paul Walker, AK``

``Hey Glenn, I searched the messages and even their website but all I
have found is 11620 at 0000. Have they moved off of this or are they
having problems again? Regards, Chris`` Campbell, OH (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** U S A. Reply to some of my MW logs the past week: ``Glenn et al, My
observations. 73, Wayne Heinen, N0POH, Editor, NRC AM Radio Log,
Aurora, CO:

[Re KJOZ:] If 880 decides on something, I guess I can update the AM
Radio Log database, it acts like it is brokered and broadcasts
whatever someone is willing to pay the air time fee for!

On 890 KDXU and their TLK format has been a consistent close second to
WLS since the season began. I wonder if their night DA is having
issues?

On 1460 I’ll refer you, once again, to the Groups section of the Log.
Grp= Heart of Jesus Radio, which is listed under KHOJ in the Log. With
a quick check in the handy reference Groups section in the back of the
Log shows:

Heart of Jesus Radio – KHOJ-1460, WRYT-1080, KBKC-90.1, K244FO-96.7,
W224DC-92.7, K275CI-102.9

I know it is a pain to check each group but, I haven’t had any better
suggestion to make these types of // groups any better`` (via Glenn
Hauser, WOR)

** U S A. 1330, Oct 6 at 0501 UT, pause in gospel music for ``You are
listening to West Texas` powerhouse, KCKM...`` Really? 12/1 kW? Format
is basically C&W per NRC AM Log. BTW, Paul Crankshaw, Troon, Scotland,
MW Circle, logged Monahans Sept 28 as a `personal first`. Night
pattern is supposedly pulled in to the NE toward Wichita & Troon:
https://radio-locator.com/cgi-bin/pat?call=KCKM&service=AM&h=N
with deeper notches NW toward Gallup, SSE toward Mexicans (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. TA JBA MW carrier search, Oct 6 at 0440 UT: only a
trace? on 1134, nothing else in horrible conditions; altho Cubans? on
711 & 1141 showing; also some pirate or TIS carrier on 1710 (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)
