  Radio 5264, Chiriaco  DX news

Radio 5264, Empresa Individual de Responsabilidad Limitada "La Voz de Chiriaco", made its debut on airwaves on Tuesday, October 3, 1995, being the first commercial broadcasting company in Chiriaco.
The station identifies itself as "Radio 5264"(cinco mil doscientos sesenta y cuatro) after its nominal frequency.
It runs with a transmitter of 1kW power which was built by Ing. Selustiano Asmad in Trujillo, connected into a 1/2 wave dipole antenna (14 meters high above the ground).

As of February 1998, the station is off the air due to economical reason, but it will come back on airwave, hopefully in April 1998.
While active it operated at two local time slots: 0600-1200 in the morning and 1900-2300 in the evening (i.e. 1100-1700 and 0000-0400 UTC), with the following programming:
1100-1200 "Música Folklórica",
1200-1300 "Noticias y Música Chicha",
1300-1400 "Música Tropical",
1400-1500 "Música Variada" with huaynos and cumbias,
1500-1600 "Canta Perú, Ecuador",
1600-1700 "Música Criolla",
0000-0100 "Atardecer Campesino",
0100-0200 "Noticias Locales y Festival Tropical",
0200-0300 "Puro Norte",
0300-0400 "Música Variada".

The language the station broadcasts is not only Spanish but also regional dialect Aguaruna.

Station staff includes: Hildebrando Lopez Pintado (Director), Santos Castaneda Cubas (Director Gerente), Felipe Paredes Infantes (Periodista), Walter M. Davila Perales (Conductor de programas), Julissa L. Castaneda C. (Secretaria), Nidia M. Castaneda (Locutora), Jose S. Lopez Pintado (Locutor), Fidel Huamuro Curinambe (Técnico de mantenimiento).

Station address:
Jirón Ricardo Palma s/n, (= sin número)
Chiriaco,
Distrito de Imaza,
Provincia de Bagua,
Departamento de Amazonas,
Peru.

All according to a pleasant package, with full data QSL card with station stamp shows "Radio 5264 EIRL - Jr. Ricardo Palma s/n, Chiriaco, Imaza", full data QSL letter, and station information.

Verification signatures are Santos Castaneda Cubas (Director Gerente) and Hildebrando Lopez Pintado (Director).

According to Radio 5264 their transmitter was built in August 1995 by a radio-engineer in Trujillo. It means that it is seemingly a new transmitting equipment.
In 1984, Juan Carlos Codina observed an unidentified station which had made an experimental transmission "calidad de prueba" on 5264.7 kHz from the Department of Amazonas.
It is very interesting that this unidentified station had operated near the frequency on which Radio 5264 remained, and had also existed in the same department. Therefore, It is doubtful whether the transmitter currently used by Radio 5264 is absolutely new equipment ...
It is quite possible that Radio 5264 is utilizing the second-hand transmitter which was formerly used by the unidentified shortwaver temporally appeared on 5264.7 kHz.
